This is really shamefull from the caste outfits and considering Tamil Nadu was always at the forefront of free speech from the days of Periyar, its astonishing to see the Dravidian outfits- anti-Hindu groups are keeping quiet.

One need to understand the difference in smruti. Smrutis are code and doctorines of particular society in particular age and time. Smriti never claims that the codes they laid down in book are universally applicable to all the societies all the time.

True. Perumal Murugan himself is a Hindu. He is not writing something unknown to Indian culture.
And 11th Century Muslim philoshophers debated presence of god in the caliphate. Imagine doing that in present day KSA. With time society should become liberent, not like this. Intolerance. Free Speech(in literature) is the way to go.
