I disagree, this conflict is highly politicised with many different groups poking their noses in like Americans, Saudis and Iranians.
Have you seen the average Israelis view of the situation? many Israelis are vehemently in favour of occupation as they believe that it is there land by right. After the three Israeli boys were killed, many were calling for revenge attacks. You can't soften the view of people who believe that the land is their birthright.

non-violence was unique

Hindu majority in India had lived "non-violently" with few exceptions, under centuries of non-Hindu rule.

They developed unique habits and stories in order to survive.

One can also attribute non-violence to being more civilized aka been able to figure out when force is not warranted.

The same cannot be said about tribal mindset and primitive societies.

I had the same discussion with a Palestinian colleague.

He outright rejected the idea of non-violence.
