Well, my heritage is not Irish. I am half German and half Scottish-American. Anyway, my wife at least made corned beef for dinner and I drank one Guinness stout ale. So I'm not any where near an Irish state of mind .....sad to say .....

I think 50% of the crowd here won't be regular drinkers and would have no idea about st. Patrick's day. You don't need to Irish... Or even catholic, its pretty much a secular celebration now.

So why don't you update our members about what its all about and all the greenness in everything.

Saint Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland, credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and banishing the snakes from the green Isles. In many parts of North America, Britain, and Australia, expatriate Irish and ever-growing crowds of people with no Irish connections but who may proclaim themselves "Irish for a day" also celebrate St. Patrick's Day, usually with the consumption of traditionally Irish alcoholic beverages (beer and stout, such as Murphy's, Beamish, Smithwicks, Harp, or Guinness; Irish whiskey; Irish coffee; or Baileys Irish Cream) and by wearing green-coloured clothing.

St. Patrick's Day has become a big party where young people consume large amounts of green beer.

St patrick's day is the ONLY day when everyone's an Irish. You'll even see Irishmen passed out on the curb everywhere
