As advancing armed Vietnamese soldiers threatened the stationary Chinese, the marines were fully within their rights to exercise self-defense and protect themselves.

I have a question for you. How did a Chinese marine become injured/shot if the Vietnamese never fired, as you claimed?

Another important question: According to you, if the Chinese were the aggressors then why didn't the Chinese frigates simply destroy your Vietnamese ships with anti-ship missiles from many miles away?

A third question: Why would some Chinese sailors leave the safety of their frigates and venture out in a rubber speedboat if they only wanted to kill you? Isn't it obvious that the Chinese sailors were merely trying to remove the Vietnamese flag that had just been planted on the Chinese atoll?

Here is my point:

For all of the facts to make sense, isn't it true that the events happened as China described them? China says that they did not fire until they were fired upon. This makes sense because you aggressive Vietnamese lined up all of your soldiers and advanced on the stationary Chinese (as seen in the video).

One or more of your soldiers fired on the Chinese speedboat. The Chinese marines on the speedboat radioed for help and the frigates opened up with their 37mm and 100mm cannons. All of the advancing Vietnamese soldiers deserved to die that day, because they were the aggressors.

Just look at how aggressive you Vietnamese have been in my Happy New Year and Taiwan thread. There is simply no reasoning with you or Rechoice. I can easily imagine that stubborn Vietnamese soldiers are ten times worse than you guys.

If you were intelligent, you would support (and try to garner more support among other Vietnamese) for a compromise with China. Taking a hard line will only push Vietnam into an abyss. Come on, Vietnam is no match for Taiwan. Challenging China is just crazy.
