Hangor Class Submarine Project | Updates & Discussions

are they comparable to leading diesel engine manufacturers globally ?

Hi,

Does an RD93 do the job on the JF17 thunder---. Off course it does---. It may not have as good a life span as an american engine---but it is a very capable and reliable engine---.

Same thing with the chinese diesel engine---. It is not the best of the best---but it still is extremely capable---. It meets & exceeds the desired capability threshold.

LOL I know you still live in 20 years ago. But give me some company name and data! And we are talking about Diseal Engine! Don't twist it into internal combustion engine technologies!
don't waste your time, it's no good doing that.

First photo from a post on Weibo, believed to be the submarine variant of HND’s CHD620 diesel engine designated the CHD620V16H6 passing certification. This variant of CHD620 is planned to be installed on Pakistan Navy’s Hangor Class (S20P) and Royal Thai Navy’s S26T class submarine currently under construction. The CHD620V16H6 will replaced the MTU16V396SE84 as the submarine’s main generator since Germary block the export of such engine to China.

If the PN's plan was to get a submarine geared for long-range land strikes, then sure. However, that was not the primary goal of the Hangor-class SSP. Rather, the Hangor-class SSP's job is to deter or deny enemy sea activity through anti-ship and anti-sub warfare. Long-range strikes are a secondary mission.
Any indication Pakistan has a requirement for a follow up class of 3-4 SSBK subs like the one being developed for Israel?

3-4 should be enough to keep one on patrol in a bastion along the coast, and still be able to target most Indian targets if the SLBM has at least a 1500 Km range, like the North Korean Pukguksong-6

The only thing I heard was a probable original SSP project in collaboration with an overseas partner. The SWATS vendor will probably be the primary design and development partner. E.g., STM had proposed the TS-1700 to the PN back in 2017.

Meanwhile, Adm Choengchai said on Friday that he had approved the use of the Chinese-made CHD620 engine as a substitute for a German-made one for an S26T Yuan-class submarine being assembled in China
by the China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co.

Do we know for certain that the Hangor are in fact the S-26T? @Bilal Khan (Quwa)

When are we going to receive these subs? There appears to be complete silence as to their status
