China produced this engine locally for 30 years already! It was licensed from German like Korea. China's 039 and 054a fleet all use the upgrade version of it. It's just the license only cover the engine usage in China not for export. China has more advanced and other brand. In the diesel engine field, China is the leader! Only Germany can compete with China!

It maybe producing more trucks / equipment and putting capable chinese diesel engines in them---but not more advanced in diesel tech---. Their machine are capable---very capable---.
