HAL secures copter order from Peru

Sorry to burst this love in guys, but this article states that "2" helicopters have been sold. hardly a huge breakthrough when you consider the two you sold to Nepal have had problems.

So do tell me what is a optimum number of Helicopters should we sold to other countries to struck a breakthrough?

The jubliation of members over here is because of fact that Dhurv manage to find all new customer other then existing one and hence we can consider follow on orders from not only existing one but also from all new perspective customers.

These helicopters are for medical purposes. I dont even know what this whole fuss is about since the number too is what is TWO.

Stealth, in this business numbers DO matter.

Numbers depends upon customer, according to peru's requirement two are sufficient for their purpose and hence we can't go and enforce them to purchase this helicopters in large numbers.

Any problems and crashes with other sales will always play a part.

Customers are aware about those problems and crashes but they also knew that it happens with any aerial object and hence that doesn't mean that they would from now on stop buying helicopters.

A lot of excuses with things "political pressure" and "lobbying" which implies only these factors play a part in the poor sales of the aircraft.

I am very sorry to say, above statement of yours is nothing but a biggest excuse in the absence of anything sufficient.

It would be a biggest irony that we can provide link for the same to substantiate our claim but you can't.

It's being purchased by a private concern with a small budget rather than a govt.

Do tell me the name of that private concern as well as their budget level which makes them completely different form governement?

It doesn't mention WHO the other competitors were or if they even bothered floating a good tender for such a small order.

Its easy to win if no one else is racing with you.

I don't understand when you yourself has promulgated that Dhruv being purchased by private concern with lower budget and for only couple of helicopter then why do they need to float a global tender for the same?

One more thing I would like to add that even IA had inked a contract with Russian for the purchase of 80 Mi series of heavy lift helicopters without any floating of global tender, but it wasn't meant that all other heavy lift helicopters aren't sufficent enough to meet IA's user requirments. IA simply found that MI series are meating user requirements and are cheap, and hence simple thing happened with Dhurv as well.

Maybe the American deal was too good to pass up? Isn't that the nature of big business? Maybe they only looked at the price of the Druv and then thought The U.S. is offering us a better deal.

How does it possible, American deal was too good to pass because it is well established fact that Amercian arms twisted Chilean airforce? you can try whatever the way you want but you can't change the truth by generalizing the American deal.

You had inquiries from 35 airforces and sold how many?
I wonder if the Nepalese purchased their helicopters after "arm twisting from the Indian govt? [/QUOTE]

Another big excuse of arm twisting from yours, also do tell us from your observation as what we may have yielded from that arm twisting.

Even allies like Burma have said no.

For your kind pursuance Burma didn't said no rather it was a EU pressurize India for the same.

Still you can dance around it as much as you guys like. The simple truth is that no one really wants the Druv.

Well your truth has nothing to do with reality, Dhurv has already been ordered in large number and its prodution has also being raised to 23 pieaces per year from current 19 pieaces. So yes I can say atleast someone wants Dhurv.

I could argue that the IA only bought them after arm twisting from the Govt.

Offcourse you can argue, what is holding you back. I am ready for your arguments.

what you are telling me is that you have sold maybe (And I dispute these figures) that you have sold maybe 5/6 Druv's. Frankly if the product was as good as claimed you would have people beating your door down for it.

Offcourse they are beating, if you can't heard that noise then I can't help you. One more thing I would like to add that when homegrown customers have been pleased with it so we aren't concern about international orders. Because happiness of homegrown customers is one the key for having consideration of product from international customers.

You created a product for a saturated market.

Then who is fearful of saturated market, unless you don't enter such market condition till then you aren't supposed to know its fundamental ethics.

Where the opponent has better product, better marketing, and better support.

So what, it is there for sure but even we are getting better in those segments.

Jeff you are late for this party......And I am bored by this thread.

The only people who bought the helicopter in large numbers are the Indian armed forces and they opted for the Fennec first. (which was cheaper as well) NO ONE ELSE.....

Didin't the IAF buy the MARUT as well?

Anyway I am outta here....

Honestly, you see what you want to see. Rather than proving JEFF wrong, you indulge in smiley-spanking...

Great going.

With regard to Fennec, I think I did clarify your doubts in this regard. By the way, the reason why Fennec is cheaper is because it is half the weight and capacity of the Dhruv.

Vish Jeff has a track record of this and frankly I can't be bothered. I went through it with you guys what more is he gonna bring?
Oh btw did you read my comments? Or do they not count because I used smilies

I did read your comments; they were lacking.

There is a better way of saying "agree to disagree."

Exiting discussions like that brings in more unnecessary flak.

Common Keyseroze, it is only a second day of this thread, I don't think you should left the discussion so easily. Morever your bordem has nothing to do with the subject of the thread.

Now what has Fennac has anything to do with Dhurv.

Didin't the IAF buy the MARUT as well?

Yes they did and also in large number. And the number is 157, one the biggest thing about that it did perform well in war like situation.

Anyway I am outta here....

I need your balance point of view in this regard.

India signs historic aviation deal

Press Trust of India
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 (New Delhi)
India has made aviation history by concluding a USD 51 million deal with the South American Republic of Ecuador for the sale of seven 'Dhruv' Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH).

The deal signed between Ecuador Aviation Authority and bluechip state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) envisages the supply of seven helicopters in semi knock-down conditions to the Republic in a time-frame of 15 months to two years, Defence Ministry officials said.

With this, India has joined a select group of nations with a capability to bid for international contracts for choppers. So far, the helicopter market has been dominated by US, European companies and Russia.

The ALH 'Dhruv' has been making waves in international air shows worldover from the past two years but international sales of the helicopter have eluded HAL.

HAL came very near bagging its first international order when it bid for the Chilean armed forces contract two years ago, but was beaten to the closing line by the US competitors
