PESHAWAR: A close associate of Hakimullah Mehsud, chief of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and six others have been arrested from Peshawar, DawnNews reported on Monday.

Mehsud’s close associate, “Hakeem,” has been arrested along with six other extremists from Peshawar’s Hayatabad phase VI and have been shifted to an undisclosed location, sources told.

Four detained commanders of the banned outfit, including Hakeem were on the wanted list and their real names have not been disclosed yet, DawnNews learnt.

Hakeem was sub-commander of TTP Peshawar region.

Hakeem, along with his associates, was involved in kidnapping of high profile personalities; Hakeem’s gang was involved in the abduction of Professor Ajmal, Afghan counsel general Khalid Farahi and Iranian commercial attaché Hashim Atharzade.

Meanwhile, in a similar raid in Abbotabad, Police has arrested and registered cases of kidnapping for ransom against three members of the TTP.

The KPK intelligence has really picked up it seems. Although the blasts are happening every day in some areas of KPK, some progress is being made on the Bannu jail incident, and now this catch,

if our Lawyers and Judiciary doesnt mind

shouldn't this terrorist and his associates be kept under military guard? I dont know when TTP might make another raid and "free" them like they done already in bannu

well if it's anything like the past, they would ''mind'' (more just to snub the military government at the time) but now i think things have changed and for once they'd be a little more understanding about detaining these types of people indefinitely as they do pose a major security threat to the country

me personally, i'd prefer them under military guard...preferably in a better secured city

Bannu was a total security failure and a huge embarassment to Pakistan; we can't afford such things to repeat ever again.....

these are very dangerous individuals, they have no right to be roaming free.......they surrendered that right when they decided it was okay to terrorize and kill everyone that gets in their way - even innocent civilians
