A wise decision at the end. I was fearing that foolish people around IK would advise him to 'brave it out' just like all other controversies.
But sense prevailed and PTI responded to the sensitivities of the nation. Nations only progress when they don't comprise their core values to appease others.

I would love to witness the mourning and outrage of the desi liberal and Qadiyani party now. Let it commence [emoji23]View attachment 497126

This is indeed injustice. We have lost our rationality.

Yes I will dig that. I was deeply sad when Imran Khan fired him because he was from a minority. Imran Khan could have kept him on the council for symbolic reasons but then I started researching on him. This man has some serious issues with Chinese loans and likes IMF Loans.

I do not know much about him, but if his views were not aligned with the government's objectives, he should not have been hired in the first place.

Why shouldn't anyone ask questions about CPEC considering it can worsen Pakistan's situation.

His point was about improving domestic productivity which is artificially being increased by CPEC and it's not a long term solution.

There is something called the Chinese debt trap, which Pakistan has to be careful of.
What is this tweet my friend? This is not about productivity at all but straightaway targeting the loan structure which is what USA said when Pompeo issued statement on IMF issue.

It is a bad decision to ask him to step down, but a worse decision to have hired him in the first place. Not because he is a Qadiyani. But because the government should have known that they would not be able to withstand pressure from those who were going to exploit the situation against the government. They had already seen what happened the last time IK mentioned Atif Mian. They should have anticipated this.

There would have been absolutely no controversy whatsoever if they hadn't hired him in the first place. But now they are seen as having buckled under pressure from the opposition, thus showing their own weakness and emboldening the opposition. They have disappointed a large section of their support base (the more "liberal"), and alienated the minority communities (not just the Qadiyanis). All in all, this was a mistake.

Atif Mian's qualifications and expertise in this whole affair has become almost irrelevant.
First post that truly highlights the real problem. This government is making certain hasty and poorly researched decisions that will end up backfiring in its face. There seems to be no indepth ideals or analysis on many decisions made. This is possibly due to a non-existence of an analyst culture in the Pakistani governance systems but also in corporate life.

We may just have been saved from another economic hitman.

When building such a structure from scratch, there are bound to be mistakes.

Mistakes that will be repeated throughout the structure until the appropiate knowledge base is created and applied.

Its strange , beside mullah party, PMLn and ANP raised objection on his appointment.

@T-Faz please just for once let go of Ahmadi factor here and tel me why keep DFID linked economists here the other fellow Khawaja which has been asked to leave is also linked to same background. This is not a minority based decision certainly but background based.

Mr Verve and Mr Bharwa seem to be in an on going character defamation circle jerk mode, liking everything they post.

CPEC needs to be transparent because the terms of it can worsen Pakistan's economic condition. Atif's suggestion for Pakistan is to improve domestic productivity, grow exports and develop a sustainable economy. Not solely focus on projects by foreign entities which are susceptible to foreign factors and dictation.

Remember kids, economy is X + C + I + G - M.

X for exports, C for domestic consumption, I for investments, G for government expenditure - M for imports. CPEC could end up being an import heavy project and Pakistani's would end up crying themselves to sleep every night.
