Just received word we're advancing with the VT4 .What a waste of money this is going to cost 6.9 million for Chinese rolling coffins. Khawaja Asif should use his charm and get at least 10 Armata maybe China can make them cheaper for us

Not sure the Chinese will be happy hearing you calling their high tech VT4 tanks rolling coffins. @Chinese-Dragon , @ChineseTiger1986 , @Beidou2020 , @Kiss_of_the_Dragon etc.
with allies like these......... :pop:

why China and Pakistan don't design stuffs like 60+ tons category beasts heavy armor!!??:pakistan::china:

we should go for vt-4 or altay. or have a joint venture with any other partner for some heavy category MBTs rather than just 47 or 50 ton etc. which can easily face any MBT in the world especially when come across Arjun mk2 1 on 1 so can handle those indian tanks with ease
If India goes for Armata than we should go for Altay otherwise no

heavy tanks particularly 60+ tons tank are way expensive and difficult for mass production. also we r following a basic Russian tank design so far. our old Type69,Type85 and Al Zarrar are very identical and also T80UD and Al Khalid also have matching features. But Armata or Atlay or any other non Russian or non Chinese type will create a lot of problems for us. so in future we will go for VT4 or may develop al khalid program further but all it will depends upon Indian tank collection. its highly unlikely that they will get Armata as they ar focussing on Arjun project and T90................so no heavy tank as long as Indians don't have it

indians are going to get Arjun mk2 60+ tons tank and according to their claims it has some advanced electronics package too with heavy armour and pneumatic suspension which reduces ground pressure makes tank more agile and lighter on ground.:blah::blah::blah::ashamed::pop:

Arjuns are not a problem. Problem is T90 or spike missiles which they are getting from Israel. I don't know what is our progress with Al Khalid program and how many VT4 ( Al Haider) we plan to induct. (320 may be)

Anti-tank missiles and warhead technology has advanced enough to penetrate all type of armour and tanks at present. It is no important whether It is Altay or Armata. That's why It is the hard-kill technology of tanks, reaction time/sensor quality which enables crew to survive against a likely serious atack. Older generation tanks are modified to install hard-kill systems which is a bit difficult, While new design and generation tanks like Altay-Armata has been designed to have enough space for installation of hard-kill radar/munitions. I believe It is the advancement level of such active protection systems that will put current generation tanks one step ahead/back from others in comparison.

Do you have any idea about the intricacies of an armour acquisition?

1. The Armata is a next generation tank that will not be operational until 2020 and will require another decade to perfect.

That is not correct, 2020 is when they hope to have 2300 tanks operational. The Armata has been in development for 5 years, it is already being given for state testing and training.

That means Serial production of Armata will be commenced around 2016-17 ?

Very fine grain of rajhistan and thar region will swallow anything above 55 tonnes. M1 tested in bahawalpur is a test case. Also, filters and engine heat badly with such heavy weight mbts. There is a reason why Pakistan pursued a medium weight MBT despite repeated offers by general dynamics for a modified M1 varian . Last such offer was made as late as 2007.

Somewhere around that time frame. The tank is itself ready and should have already passed the proving grounds but the government will test and evaluate it themselves.

It does not matter the weight only the ground pressure, there are heavy tanks that have less ground pressure then lighter tanks.

Somewhere at the back, there is heavy monopoly in existence. Ural bureau was never a hot favourite among Russian armour bosses and for a good reason. Their t-72 mindset continued in the t-95 project which was a let down. Hoping better for the t-14

Ground pressure only works when the vehicle is moving. What if you need to stop on the fine grain somewhere?

Proof for this statement? As for the T-14 it has nothing in common with the T-72 or T-90.

That is completely untrue, and goes against basic science.
