I am gonna make a controversial statement here. I would think Indian Muslims are better off if they are left alone by Pakistan. Its because of acts of Pakistan (perceived, lets say that) that Hindu extremists view Muslims in India with suspicion. Its not a norm, very small percentage think like that.

Its not very different to US, where a Muslim name invokes a special screening at airports. When an developed country can't resist to take such a measure, what do you expect a developing country with substantial illiterates would do?
