Featured General Qamar Javed Bajwa to visit Saudi Arabia next week

.
“The Saudis have asked for another billion dollars to be sent back,” said the president of a private Pakistani bank. People familiar with the matter in Islamabad said the government had resolved to send General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the army chief, to try to smooth over relations with Riyadh.

The Saudi resistance on Kashmir, with Riyadh blocking attempts to get the Mecca-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to comment on the issue, was motivated in part by fear of angering India, one of the kingdom’s main trading partners, analysts said.

The Saudi loan to Islamabad was originally due to be repaid in instalments later this year and in 2021, while the deferred oil payment facility was intended to support Pakistan’s external payments position.

“It seems the Saudis didn’t appreciate the persistence of the Pakistanis on Kashmir,” said Arif Rafiq, president of Vizier Consulting. “China is pretty much becoming not just Pakistan’s main option but to some extent only option.”

China immediately lent $1bn to Pakistan following the decision by Saudi Arabia to cut off aid and could potentially offer more, a senior government official said.

“Within hours and not days of Saudi Arabia conveying its demand to Pakistan, China offered to place $1bn with our state bank [central bank],” said a senior government official. “Beijing has proven beyond doubt that they have an ironclad commitment to Pakistan’s future, prosperity and welfare.”

If this is true it is quiet clear India is managing and trying to silence Pakistan via Saudi Arabia. Such as sad state of affairs for the so called self proclaimed Muslim leader country.

we also helped them..it was a two way road.

Exactly my point. Their billions have bought them slaves in the form of Egyptians and Sudanese. They made the mistake of thinking Pakistan will fall into same catagory. If this lessons Saudi influence in Pakistan that can only be a good thing.

Much bigger game going on in the background here, especially if you view Saudi and India and US proxy and Pakistan as China proxy. There was a reason Chinese immediately replaced the Saudi loan.

As for the House of Saud, until MBS arrived they, to a man, were extremely dedicated to Pakistan and had real love fr Pakistan and her armed forces. King Abdulaziz is the last remaining leader of that generation but he may well pass soon, he has tried to restrain MBS to a degree. I suspect when he passes Saudi - Pak relationship may get worse.

MBS is all about flashy Silicon Valley tech investments, Bollywood stars and mega prjects. Very vain Prince who will often not listen to the advice of those wiser and older heads around him. Obviously the Kashoggi affair has caused him to bitterly despise Turkey, this will not also play in Pakistans favour.

Having said that, the moment Houthi rebels capture any Saudi territory or Iranian missiles land at Saudi bases and the US and Egyptians do nothing, you can than expect them to come running.

actually he and his UAE sidekicks had indirect role in the failed coup in Turkey..Thats when things went 180 degree.
He and his alles can attempt something similar in Pakistan as well..
i have been writing it for years that we should lessen our dependence on remittances from GCC and try to get more labor sent to Japan and EU so we develop some sort of equilibrium..Too bad they never considered it until now..

Yes agree, less we are dependent on one country the better. I like to think it would be impossible for the Saudis to engineer a coup against current Pak Mill and Gov. For that they would essentially need to split Pakistan Army, but I would not put it past MBS to try.

Anyway, just like they can withdraw their funds, we can withdraw the troops we have by the Yemen border, training Saudi units and guarding Saudi Family. See how comfortable MBS and the Royals feel then....

.
You are right, they helped us, but it has reached the point beyond gratitude, Saudis now want subservience. That is the major issue here.
It’s not about being submissive ..you can’t take money and humiliate a helping hand in public ..
Problem is what did we achieve out of all this ? We have to sent money back along with COAS to apologize royal family ..
We will neither call the presume meeting independently also .. net loss at the end

.
I absolutely agree. The 2 major reasons in recent times what put Pakistan in external debt trap was the import based economic policy especially from 2016 to 2018, and the 2nd being artificially stabilized rupee which burnt our precious forex.
We have managed to survive the most difficult initial phase but the road is still long and hard.

2nd there should be no doubt that those 3 billion Saudi deposit helped us a great deal in surviving the imminent bankruptcy in 2018. We should be greatful to them for that.
It’s not of being thankful instead bashing them in public which no royal either Ksa or elsewhere likes .
I mean how can we request them money to help us and then insult them too

It's not simply a case of taking money is it? Saudi asked us for military help, we obliged. We kept quiet when they murdered a innocent man in Turkey, our PM obeyed them when they asked us not to go to Malaysia and not to raise Kashmir. All we asked was they keep their promise to us about raising Kashmir in OIC and then they are now treating us as some sort of uppity House N**ger.....

No we did not join there military in Yemen .. though was right thing to do ..
Yes we kept quiet because we owe money to them ..we are Makrooz and they are lender .. all I am saying what did we achieve by SMq outburst ? They already asked for there money months back and now the outstanding 2 billions also ..on top of that we are going to make apology also and our COAS visiting Ksa to console them ... net result is just loss to Pakistan. We neither maintained standing nor anything else

Firstly you are ill informed. We sent 1,200 troops for "training" by Yemen border. This is to protect Saudi soveriegnty and not attack Yemen. This was reported in news.

If you think Pakistan is just "Makrooz" you are very much mistaken. In Pakistan's history (read up on it) you will see we defied US to make our Nukes, we defied USSR in Afghanistan and we defied India on numerous occasions.

Do you really think we will not be willing to defy Saudis if we decide it is in our interests?
