Tell that to the traders or merchants in Pakistan who trade with Iran --or vice versa. Iran just happens to be a Muslim country and a neighbour of ours and we should have a relationship with them I think.

as for the topic --- we have NOTHING to do with any rivalries in Middle East or Eurasia. On Azerbaijan, we've had military and commercial relations with them since their independence. Nothing new.

well with india there are also political, security-related and "emotional" considerations


but yes -- on both sides efforts are being made to liberalize business relations....every few months of the year trade councils and reps on both sides are visiting eachother.....as everyone knows, Pakistan granted MFN status to india, etc.

it makes a lot more sense to engage in DIRECT trade than to be trading with eachother via 3rd party countries like Dubai (which needlessly drives up costs)

bhai -- so many factors at play

--when dealing with a large-scale operation like gas transfer, banks are required...

bluntly put --Pakistani banks are shyt-scared of being red-listed by "uncle" in the west


and its even beyond sanctions there are other issues too


problem on Iranian side and Pakistani side --- Pakistanis and Iranians play games on the pricing mechanism time to time. One day they decide price and news reports that agreement is made; then months later Iranians change their mind and then Pakistanis are confused and working out new price agreement.

in Iran's northern sector they import gas from Turkmanistan....we are to import liquified gas from their eastern sector along Balochistan region (which even today there is problems with low-level insurgency by terrorist BLA) and this complicates things

while all other trade and travel is open

well the goras have been trying to nudge us to basically cut off ALL trade with Iran and we've told them to go f*ck themselves b/c it's unrealistic for us to cut-off all bilateral trade with Iran. We've been doing trade with them for several decades, the relations between merchants on both sides are cemented....it's not easy to just one day say "okay, b/c these goras are telling our govenrment to end trade it means goodbye....now we must stop"

Inflation in Iran is pretty f*cking bad nowdays....in just the past 2 months alone their currency has lost 50-60% of its value!!! People are concerned more about food prices there. The sanctions are having a bad effect on their economy and making common people suffer.

I really question the wisdom of the west and the bloody UN.. this wont turn people only against government....it turns them against WEST too



did you know that in Iran, cancer patients are STRUGGLING to get access to the medicines they need b/c of these sanctions....even cancer patients are suffering because of this insanity.
