Goa: The five nation BRICS summit which is currently underway at Goa, threw a few surprises for PM Modi. Habituated with hearing ‘Modi Modi’, PM was taken aback after a crowd of Russians gathered at the airport were found chanting ‘Putin Putin’.

The situation at the airport caused mild embarrassment for the PM, who is widely popular in India as well as abroad.
Speaking to Faking News, a senior official from the PM’s entourage said, “The PM was expecting a huge crowd at Dabolim airport. Hoping that the crowd would chant his name and he can show off his popularity to the heads of other nation. But no sooner he stepped out, all we could see were Russians all crowded outside the airport.”
“As soon as the crowd saw Vladimir Putin, there were hysterical chants of ‘Putin Putin’ reverberating all over.
The embarrassment was further compounded with all media cameraman taking pictures of Vladimir Putin and not a single camera facing in the direction of PM Modi.
Sources say that Russian supporters in Goa clearly outnumbered Modi supporters.
After the faux-pas, many were questioning the waning popularity of PM Modi. The local unit of BJP tried to firefight the situation, but it was too late in the day.
Apparently, PM has asked Sushma Swaraj to stop addressing random visa issues on twitter and look into the matter pronto.
Meanwhile, Congress party latched on to the opportunity to point finger at the PM. “The situation wouldn’t have happened if Rahul Gandhi was the PM,” said one party member.
