The Channel Islands in the English Channel was not given maritime jurisdiction. France is currently making claims on Greek maritime delimitation.

According to their argument, Greece’s maritime delimitation should be equal to its national territories. Based on this argument, France should be giving the same rights to United Kingdom regarding the maritime delimitation of the Channel Islands.

1977 UK-FRANCE CASE

FRANCE CLAIMED THAT ART.6 IN 1958 CONTINENTAL SHELF CONVENTION COULD NOT BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT OWING TO FRANCE’S RESTRICTIONS IN THE ENGLISH CHANNEL SECTOR, AND ADDITIONAL CLAIMS STATING THAT THE SHORE WERE NEITHER OPPOSITE NOR ADJACENT IN THE ATLANTIC SECTOR. FRANCE ALSO CLAIMED THAT THE NATURAL PROLONGATION, AS FAR AS APPLICABLE, SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR DELIMITATION.

UK CLAIMED THAT THE PRINCIPLE OF EQUIDISTANCE SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT FOR THE DELIMITATION. ARBITORS DECIDED TO IMPLEMENT CUSTOMARY LAW IN THE SECTOR OF ENGLISH CHANNEL WHERE FRANCE RESTRICTIONS WERE IN EFFECT AND ART. 6 IN THE ATLANTIC SECTOR. WHILE DETERMINING THE PROCEDURE, ARBITORS ALSO STATED THAT THE SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES IN ART. 6 WERE NOT EXEMPTIONS AND THIS ARTICLE WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED AS A COMBINATION OF EQUIDISTANCE/SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

IN ITS JUDGEMENT THE COURT DECIDED THAT THE ISLANDS, POSSESSED BY UK, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MID-CHANNEL MEDIAN LINE, WOULD BE GIVEN THE MARITIME JURISDICTION AREAS NOT MORE THAN THEIR TERRITORIAL WATERS.

Interesting read regarding a possible compromise as it seems both states have pros and cons to their positions

According to greek claim, All pros belongs to greeks. The island of Cyprus and greek have almost all of Mediterranean. This is a really funny claim.

Seeing Greek EEZ...

It's like a joke.

It's almost contained Turkey.

No wonder if Turkey upsets.

EEZ between Finland and Sweden:

Small Islands matter and count almost as much as mainland
Nord-Stream-A-Roadmap-for-Secure-and-Safe-Gas-for-Europe-or-a-Continental-Power-Play-780x405.jpg

Look at the tiny, tiny island north of Gotland that gets their own large territorial water.

Latvia has barely any EEZ because of Gotland. Crete is much larger than Gotland.

Compare years of diplomacy (map above), giving Gotland and tiny Finnish Islands with EEZ, with this Turkish theft/madness (map below).

Stupid example. MEIS island is 2 km away from Turkish mainland and 550 km far from Greek mainland. They can't be judged in the same basket according to international law.

Before you come write should think before, that Gotland have his own EEZ because of they are goverment self. Thats why they have own EEZ:-). Againg you can see that a island can not have more EEZ then mainland.

beat it...:turkey:

Macron is one confused dude.

Makes sense why the French are lately so deserate and come off as weak. Well, they are the loosers in this upcoming multipolar world. The French will simply have to accept to give up on influence in many areas.
