Fierce gun fight rages in Kashmir

.
This needs to come to an end- these gun fights are not takign anywhere - rebels need to go to diplomatic channel not blood spilling, They are loosing trust of kashmiri right now. This extrimism will only make them terrorist. which they are .

The diplomatic channel has been closed by india.......

.
Well if you know Shamsbari ranges, these are mountains near the LOC. A faviorite place for the insurgents to inflirtate into India. They will be most likely Pakistanis or people from Pakistan Administrated Kashmir , who taking the cover of Pakistani army , are trying to get to India.

Indian forces should make hell out of them. Use attack choppers, chemical weapons whatever, but give them a horrific death so that their backers will pee in their pants , the next time someone asks them to send armed men across !!
All this , gunfights wont do it as loyal troops (most of them Kashmiri muslims) are killed by these terrorists.

And pray, why is Pakistan still supporting these rebels !! Rassi jal gay, lekin bal nahin jala !! If Pakistan thinks, that they will support terrorism in other countries, then expect India to strike back in Balochistan and FATA. No mercies :guns:

kashmir is a disputed territory and not part of india or pakistan. so u cant compare it with balochistan or rajistan. secondly ppl fighting in kashmir are not considered terrorists even by UN.
and pakistan says this openly that we provide moral and political support to freedom fighters in kashmir.
those loyal troops are not mostly muslims lik you said but yes there are muslim troops as well.
i also agree gunfights wont solve the problem but when diplomatic channels are closed then thats the only thing ull see.

.
What abut the soldiers fighting....are they from kashmir or are they from all over india.

in the indian army the soldiers are from all over the country .isn't it the same in your army or is your army from one particular area .

But we are talking about inflirtation from Pakistan by Pakistani nationals and non Kashmiris. Pakistan does not provide moral or diplomatic support but arms its nationals to fight a guerilla war in Kashmir. This is nothing but exporting terrorism.

Srinagar: With the combing operation in the forests of Kupwara is still going on, Army claims that all the slain militants were foreigners owing allegiance to Lashkar e Toiba. So far, seventeen militants and eight soldiers have been killed in the operation.

Brigade General Staff 15 Corps, Brigadier Gurmeet Singh said the operation is going on in the thick forests of Kupwara in the difficult mountainous terrain. “The militants were primarily an infiltration group attempting to infiltrate and a reception party,” he said. “The slain militants were foreigners owing their allegiance to Lashkar e Toiba.”

Singh said that the majority of the militants have been killed. “Remnants if any, will also be eliminated.”

The senior army commander said that the militants killed in the encounter were highly trained, well equipped. “We have received latest weapons, communication system and maps from the slain militants,” he said adding that the items recovered from the slain militants are being used by the state.

Brigadier Singh termed it as a first major infiltration attempt and said that more militants from across the Line of Control are waiting to sneak into the Valley. “As per intelligence reports 300 to 400 militants are awaiting on other side of the Line of Control to sneak into the Valley. We are prepared to tackle any infiltration attempt,” he said.
Singh said this is the time when militants try to infiltrate into the Valley as not only border fencing is buried under the snow also the snow starts to melt. Besides, huge quantity of war like ammunition, army has so far recovered 23 AK rifles from the encounter site.

The Pakistan based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has claimed responsibility for the Kupwara encounter in which eight soldiers including an Army major was killed. Seventeen militants were also killed in the five day long encounter in the dense forests of Shamasbari range in Kupwara that began on March 20.

A spokesman of Lashkar Abdullah Ghaznavi told local newspapers in Srinagar over phone that militants of the outfit will carry more attacks on the Indian troops in coming days.

Giving details about the Kupwara encounter the LeT spokesman said that Army had launched a combing operation in Chokibal Kupwara on March 20 and the militants of the outfit ambushed them in the forests.

“LeT had already received information about the troops movement in the forests and it laid an ambush. In the five day long encounter 25 soldiers were killed and 50 soldiers were also injured,” the spokesman claimed. “The Lashker also lost its ten men.”

Pakistan-based terror outfit LeT on Wednesday claimed responsibility for the Kupwara encounter. The LeT also threatened to intensify attacks across the Kashmir valley.
"The LeT will continue to render sacrifices for the freedom of Kashmir," LeT spokesman Abdullah Gaznavi said.
The operation in Kupwara should serve as an eye-opener for New Delhi. India should understand that the freedom struggle in Kashmir is not over. It is active with full force," Gaznavi told an English daily in Srinagar.

The spokesman said its fighters were involved in the six-day long encounter in Kupwara forest.
"The army had launched a combing operation in Chowkibal forests of Kupwara district on March 20. However, the LeT had already received information about the army movement and laid an ambush in the forest," the spokesman claimed.
But Brigadier Gurmeet Singh told mediapersons, "The operation is still in progress and the remnants of the infiltrating group and their reception party would also be eliminated".

"Terrorists were intercepted based on absolutely accurate and reliable human intelligence from both sides of the Line of Control. We had reliable and accurate human intelligence about the infiltration attempt and its reception party. The terrorists are mostly foreigners and members of the LeT," he said.
"The area of encounter is covered with thick jungles across difficult mountainous terrain," Brigadier Singh added. He informed that approximately 400 militants were still active in the valley.

The map, guidance systems and equipment (with terrorists) is indicative that the state and security forces' assistance from across the border was there as such material is not usually there in the civil domain," said Brigadier General Gurmit Singh.
No fresh exchange of fire has occurred since Tuesday evening and the army was carrying out combing operations in Drangyari and Hafroda forest area, he added

The diplomatic channel has been closed by india.......

In fact just the other day Indian Foreign Secretary Menon said something imbecilic along the lines of 'talks resuming only after Pakistan stops calling Kashmir a territorial dispute or change in status'.

The lack of dialog has been a roadblock put up by India from the days of Nehru. If you go through the UN resolutions thread and read his quotes I posted, he quite clearly followed a duplicitous policy on Kashmir, of 'showing one face to the world' and never intending to follow up on India's commitments to hold a plebiscite in practice.

That policy it appears is being followed by the current GoI as well. Steve Coll revealed that back channel negotiations on Kashmir had progressed considerably, but India called off the negotiations before they could be concluded.

Now the statement from the foreign secretary indicates a complete 180 - IMO the back-channel diplomacy was merely India up to its usual Nehruvian gimmickry and duplicity - negotiate to buy/waste time, and then walk away without concluding anything.

This attitude and refusal to sincerely engage in a diplomatic resolution of Kashmir is what led to Pakistan supporting interventionist policies in Kashmir, and to that end I still see no desire on the part of the GoI to move on Kashmir.

Did people understand why I quoted with highlight the lead article?
The gunfights were first reported on Saturday and followed a cross-border firing incident involving Indian and Pakistani troops that left one Indian soldier injured.

Pakistan opens fire at posts

Srinagar: In a major ceasefire violation after a gap of a few months, Pakistani troops fired throughout the intervening night of Friday-Saturday at Indian posts in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving a soldier injured.

A defence spokesman said on Saturday that Pakistani troops fired 1,500 to 2,000 rounds in Kamalkote area of Uri sector. Lance Naik Prakash Singh of 10 JAK rifles was injured in the unprovoked firing.

Indian troops returned fire but only used small arms, the spokesman said. India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on the borders of the two countries in 2003. There were 34 incidents of ceasefire violation on the Line of Control last year.

Officials believe that the firing was to provide cover to infiltrating militants. Three infiltrators were killed in a gun battle in Drangyari area in the frontier district of Kupwara. — PTI

So goes the Indian account. Pakistan has stated that the provocation was from the Indian side. It is also possible that when the Indians fired at the infiltrators, the Pakistanis took it as a provocation against them.

Hence no point in noticing what you highlighted since its what the Indians would say in any case.

Thanks for your viewpoint. Thats quite possible. Anyhow I have read about Pakistan accounts too.

well i talked about kashmir and kashmiri ppl also live on our side of LoC. and about other pakistanis going to IoK for fighting against ur troops, i will never deny that. u lik it or not but its our(muslims) nature to help muslims who are being killed or opressed in any part of the world. iraq and afghanistan are few examples where there are more foreign muslims fighting than locals. im tellin u a fact so plz dont take it personally. again ill say as i have said in other places that there is a difference in jihad and terrorism so dont think i support wat happened in mumbai.
no one has proof about pak providing weapons to these ppl so lets not get into that
