Turkish President stepped in to halt planned execution of Bangladesh Islamic leader and 100 others.
President Abdullah Gul sent Bangladesh President a letter on the leaders under trial, Turkish Daily Yeni Şafak said.
Some reports say Bangladesh plan to execute former leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ghulam Azam, will be executed in 26 March 2013.
The three-judge International Crimes Tribunal-1, set up to deal with crimes against humanity during the 1971 War of Independence, has indicted 91-year old leader for five charges including incitement, conspiracy and abetment. Gul's letter comes after Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu assigned envoy to Dhaka to follow the issue.
Bangladesh’s largest Islamic party staged rallies against trials with police reportedly using live ammunition against the protesters. At least one person has been killed and scores injured and detained by police

The US and Israelis are on one side because they are being denied access to the region by India and they realise that people in Bangladesh hate the Indians more than they do the Americans or the Israelis. The Indians and Russians are supporting the AL because they are frustrating the Americans and keeping the Chinese at a distance. Its all geo-politics.

Sometimes I do feel that India is too influential than it seems. It controls BD, create troubles in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal etc. I think India will soon dictate ocean currents, may be this theory will also come out.

Issues like Dr. Yunus, Grameen Bank, the WB scandal, etc are on the agenda.

Yaraa do you think Bangladesh is that big off a player to receive such concentrated attention especially when most of these bigger players are more concerned with Afghanistan, the Middle East & the condition of their own economies ?

Seeing the comment of dear Bangladeshi brothers (and sisters? maybe? Jekhane dekho Chhai Uraia Dekho Tai milile milite pare....) I am just itching to post this oft-told anecdote:
