Yes and Pakistan needed BVRM's along with these F-16's to shoot down Taliban from the skies. These will be used against India if the situation arises and there shouldn't be any doubts about that. Indians want the US to ditch Pakistan, but obviously US knows that Pakistan isn't the state which you can afford to ignore.

Well, I also agree that they probably could be used against India in time of self defense (US will not be seen by many of its buyers as being reliable and will lose all the Gulf/Arab states the second it gets out that PAF F-16s were useless in time of conflicts against foreign powers). That being said the US doesnt need a kill switch, when we can hack into IDFAF F-16s and go along for the ride to check on who/what they were bombing, it is a short hop, skip, and jump from being able to hack into a jets systems to being able to disable it remotely. We can electronically take them out i am sure of it, but will US do that for India, I doubt it. More likely they will be used as political leverage to cease hostilities between Pakistan and India.

Most of us will be throwing a party if Pakistan goes towards more modern J-31, SU-35 instead of 80s era F-16.
You can keep dreaming of India buying F-18. French dream of selling Rafale to India had turned into a nightmare

The United States supplied Pakistan with F-16 fighter jets to fight terrorism in areas where the Taliban have a strong foothold, US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter reiterated during a joint press conference in India.

However, as Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar shared the Indian government’s concern following the US decision to sell eight F-16 jets to Pakistan. Carter assured that the jets would only be used against terror, Times of India reported.

US Senate rejects move to block F-16 sale to Pakistan

Upon being asked if the US was trying to be a trusted ally of India by supplying the fighter jets to Pakistan, Carter, who is currently visiting India said, “We try to be a trusted partner of India.”

He added that the US has given ‘unique technologies’ to India. “We don’t have an agreement like that with other countries.”

Further addressing the New Delhi’s concerns, Carter said the US ‘values’ its relationship with Pakistan.

F-16 sale to Pakistan should not be of concern to India: Pentagon

“India also has relations with other countries like Russia. We respect that,” he said in the same regard.

“What we do in Pakistan is directed towards counter terrorism. We too have suffered from terrorism emanating from the territory, more specifically Afghanistan,” he further stated.

Exactly against terrorism .....lol...Terrorism is general term and any activity which hurt Pakistan or Pakistani economic activity is terrorism......

Paks are the only barrier b/w another 9/11 like disaster and safe heaven for the USA for the trillions spent on Afgan government have gone down the drain. Paks and the USA badly need a new deal on a relatively more equal footing so that it's respected and both come out with surpluses. Paf had failed to be prepared for any conflict before & after the sanctions----. During Kargil---they could possibly operate for 24 to 36 hours before the planes could stop flying due to lack of parts.
