I must say Nigeria has one of the strangest procurement programmes

I mean its like 3 x here and 4 x there and 2 x of this and 5 times of that

It will soon become a logistical nightmare for them with small assessment of all types of aircraft

I just hope PAC sends a strong team for maintenance and training to Nigeria

and this should be the protocol for all exports related to aviation sector

not only does not mean extra cash but also ensures our standards are maintained not only in Pakistan but also around the world

Time will tell if this is true? We have been backwards and forwards on this with Azerbijan so many times now, it is not funny. If true, then it could be they were waiting for JF17 Block III ??

Lets see.

They’ve been crying wolf so often that it is hard to tell. That said, there is no real air defense pressure for Azerbaijian since the Sukhois were noshows. Rumor has it that the Armenians didn’t buy AA missiles for them.

Hi,

Nigeria is inducting the JF17 on the basis of Need---Necessity & Utility.

As the technician & pilot training progresses---they will keep on inducting newer JF17's.

Nigeria does not have an large enemy sitting next door---so there is no urgency to rush.

State of iaf f-16

There is a certain pride to a country, that comes from operating the latest equipment for its air arm, which is reflection of the skill and experience and ability to operate that platform. That is what the F16 is for Iraq. A trophy vanity project.

Truly, at this point in Iraq's airforce history, while they are recovering and rebuilding, F16s with its toxic relationship to the USA was not the best decision(though i know, it was "forced" on them by the Americans ).

They should get the JF17 Block II at least, as PAF can help support and train their airforce without the "toxic overhead" that having American's on it soil brings with it. PAF has helped the Iraqi airforce in the past, there is a historical precedent there.

Mig29's in any form, do not represent a good strategic decision, as that platform is at the end of its life, with Russia focussing more on the Sukhoi design house( Egypts decision to go for the Mig's is tactically and strategically, stupid at this point..). It is a lemon, when you consider a 30year lifespan and limited to no upgrade potential over that period. The JF17 will be supported and actively maintained by the PAF for the next 30+ years......

Hi,

Why would you sell your pride to a nation who can hardly keep the F16 afloat---. Any issues with the JF17 would be pushed back at pakistan and Kamra would look bad---.

Let them get whatever they want other than the JF17's.

They're having issues with F16s. Does that make Lockheed look bad?

It only highlights Iraqi incompetence in maintaining their assets. Don't buy something you can't afford to maintain. Simple as that.

don't bother correcting him - he's got a mind of his own.

Hi,

Please don't have a knee jerk reaction.

F16 is a proven aircracft---with decades of stability behind it---any negatives about the aircraft would fall back on the operator.

JF17 is a young aircraft---. Kamra needs to be very selective to which country it sells the aircraft---and how much control it has over the maintenance over the sold units---.
