Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will take delivery of its JF-17 Thunder fighter jets in November this year, according to Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, speaking during the graduation of 2 079 new recruits on 15 February.

In 2016, Nigeria started budgeting funds for its JF-17 order with an initial tranche of $15.88 million US. In 2017, it allocated another $68.76 million US for platform acquisitions and in 2018 Nigeria set aside another $47 million US. In March 2019, Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) announced that it approved the sale of three JF-17s to Nigeria under a $184 million US contract. Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has three on order but more may be acquired from Pakistan to replace or supplement its Chengdu F-7Ni fleet – a third of its 15 F-7Ni/FT-7Ni aircraft have been lost in crashes.

The JF-17 Block-II represents a major capability jump for the Nigerian Air Force. The PAC JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight, single-engine, multi-role combat aircraft developed jointly by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) of China. The JF-17 can deploy diverse ordnance, including air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, and a 23 mm GSh-23-2 twin-barrel auto cannon. Powered by a Guizhou WS-13 or Klimov RD-93 afterburning turbofan, it has a top speed of Mach 1.8. The JF-17 is to become the backbone of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), complementing the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon at half the cost. The PAF inducted its first JF-17 squadron in February 2010.

There is no export market for Tejas. The current jet as we know if wont even be produced past the first 80...that is once their govt actually funds the additional numbers.
There is no Tejas Mk2 for another 5 years at least so what are they going to market exactly? Its dead in the water.
Dont forget, at its price point, ~$60MM a pop, any country would be better off buying F-16s. After all, if the US approves sale of GE 404/414 engine to someone, they might as well sell them their own jets too.

never say never.. who knows Fiji might buy it?......

As far as the coronavirus China does not want to even a discussion. That tells something. What are they hiding ?
It's the US that doesn't even want a discussion for coronavirus. It refuse to participate in finding origin of the virus. Refuse WHO to inspect US health system unlike China who do so and allow participation.

China keeping engine secret is to give enemy an element of surprise in event of war. With enemy always keep thinking Chinese jets are underpower.

Exactly ... and even more funny Mr. Trump is constantly still calling it the China-virus and accuses China as having started this pandemic, but the ironic part is let's guess - and rarely known since intentionally given a wrong name - who started and spread the Spanish flu in 1918/19, that killed between 17–100 million? :azn:

U make the claim that Chinese aren't flying their jets...and when called out on it...u hide behind "that's what they want u to think" kind of answers and calling ppl cheerleaders.

You do not have the data on what engines are flown how much. The PLAAF will not provide it.
Take everything with a grain of salt.

China is the one that suppressed information on the virus

On keeping your engine secrets I agree with you. There is a good reason not to share your engines with Pakistan and put Russian engines on the JF-17. Try getting PDFers to agree with you.

If only it was that easy.
Why don't you try making a 100 samosa when you have no money to buy the ingredients. I will pay you with maida over the next month.

Firstly, i dont make the samosas, i just eat them :p:

Beyond that, i get your point, but what im saying is that the money you are spending on oil now will be saved in the equivalent amount as what Azerbaijani will pay for the jets (perhaps more so if you demand a premium on volume given that you are trading jets for oil).

Ppl need to stop this "Chinese Flu" blame on China and others countering with Spanish Flu to blame US.

Unless a country deliberately engineers a virus/bacteria as a bioweapon and releases it on the world...there is no point in blaming the country. These things are inevitable...so long as humans coexist with other animals(which is unavoidable)...these things will jump from other animals to humans(and vice versa) from time to time...it can happen in any part of the world...at any time...just by chance.

BbcNewspaper.com? Seriously? Is it related to BBC News network? Or just a complete ripoff of their name? Secondly...are they a credible source for this news?
