Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

This is going to hurt some Pakistanis " But truth can some times hurt"

Eygption Air force has not ordered Thunders. And they will not order any either. The Egptions have gone over to the West 2 decades ago. They no longer buy Eastern military equipment. The Egyptions have 200 F16s already.

The Americans are about to mothball hundreds of F16s which will be availble for dirt cheap money to Eygpt. Infact The next big order from Eygpt will be either Rafael or JSF. WHICH WOULD BE A STEP FORWARD not go backwards to Thunder from far more ptent F16

The Thunder itself carries a Russian engine Chinease radar and unknown chinease BVR WEAPON. If anybody buys the Thunder they will deal with CAC at China afterall they have all the knowledge and its their technology.

Ultimately Thunder very good for very small budget air forces that have tiny air forces but with so many F16s even mirage 2000 fighter available and soon Gripen too many will go for the more hitech more potent options.

From China there is no doubt that the likes of Iran and others that are perceived to be bigger air powers have much keener interest on the other single seater the J10.

Even the J10 is cheap at only $30 million each. But is considered the long term back bone of the PLAAF and will get massive investment with future upgrades from CHINA,S CAC company.

The nations that we have mentioned will defo look at the J10 as a safer more potent option for the future then the PAF Thunder

Iran is last chance of China to get petrol from middle east but...

I think China must concentrate on Africa...

Seems, someone's something is burning :flame: very very badly.

Well let it burn, doesn't matter to us.

And Pakistani members, plzz don't feed the troll, you will further derail the thread, let him enjoy his fantasies.

Compare to his views, Jane's and Egyptian Brigadier General Mohammed Abdul Azim words are more authentic and credible.

Storm Force, I'm sorry your post did not have any credible reality to it.
If you go through the thread nobody said Egyptian Air Force has placed order, they are in talks with China/Pakistan and as TaimiKhan said Jane's and Egyptian Brigadier General Mohammed Abdul Azim words are more authentic thus deal seems almost done.

JFT does fits Middle Eastern African theatre as much as F-16s, with Egyptians possibly acquiring 4+ squadrons can customize with french avionics if they didn't like Chinese ones, french has no problem with it they would be delighted to furnish Egyptians request taking away American market. Its airframe is new perhaps block II will much better by that time engine factor would be resolved that is 2013/2014.

Please do some research Egyptian Air Force has ordered 18-20 F-16 block 50/52+ already, and there is possibilities of upgrade of half fleet of F-16s to block 50/52+ Standards. Logically Egyptians don't want to stick to one vendor fearing sanctions and everything comes with strings attached. They are looking for sanction free Fighter Program, J-10 is not for sale will never be sold till before 2020. JFT is top and flexible program. with massive old airframes ready to be replaced do you think Egyptians are fools to buy old used F-16s even with the upgrade it would cost them $55 million+ to bring them to block 50/52+ standards.

Nope Even Saudis are unable to acquire F-35s what makes you think Egypt is going to acquire F-35s not in 15 Years they've to wait till 2025+
Rafale is dead almost. Egypt has 170-180 old Mirages III/mig-21/F-7 sooner to be replaced. Most likely contender for half old fleet replacement is SU-30/35 with su-35 not ready yet most likely SU-30 with later upgrades to SU-35 Standards, having said that it would be a really good deal to operate JFT with russian engines as well as su-30 with russian engines.

I've to stress on this point with French top avionics and weapons, JFT is as much potent as F-16 block 50/52.

I would be very surprised If Eygpet goes for SU30 from Russia. Great War plane But India paying $75m each for the 4th batch of 42 SU30MKI.

Russian Hardware is very expensive now

Egypt will go American Or French for that kind of Money.

It just makes more political and logistcal sense

Eygpt is no longer a close ally of Russia certainly not China.

They increase cost of MKi its true but the cost what you referring is life time cost not prize of plane.

Since few month ago i said Egypt have another choices MIG-29 , SU-30/35 no body wane understand after two month in Farnborough Air Show

Russian said Egypt negotiate For MIG-29M2 and SU35 with Russian
china in 2009 offer J-10A for $30 million and Egypt not interest in performance J-10A
also not first time chines J-10A lost competition must remember Myanmar Air force last year and MiG-29 defeats J-10 in its first overseas bout

last offer for Russian for Mig-29m2 for Egypt offer Zauke AE Aesa FGA35 Radar included and Better OLS competitor can't offer same level of technology for only $35 million

155359.jpg

logical choice for Egypt as AOI head assonance since one year ago that Egypt will build fighter Chinese or Russian MIG-29M2 OR MiG-35 Frame and improved french avionics and import engines from Russia by this way we can get good fighter for cheap money 35-40 millions with advanced version for MiG-29

also Russian offer integrate Western weapons or chines weapons or avionic in Egyptian fighter

French offer Rafale 2 times for Egypt once 1997 and again 2005 for $75 millions but we need big number of fighter so Russian solution for MIG-29/SU-35 will be fit for Egypt financial and budget echo

Indian SU-30 for $76 million true but for delivery 2017 and for Silent SU-30 SE Edition pulse AESA developed in India price for fighter different for time and quantity price for 20 different for price for 80 and Russian offer SU-35 With Irbis-E radar Not AESA and OLS-35 for $60 for 2013 delivery
and Algeria since July-2010 purchase SU-30 delivery 2012 for $50-56.25 million

we need fighter against F-16I and F-15I and future F-35 not only replace old cheap fighter our yearly military budget over $6.5 Billion can cover good number for SU-35 and MIG-29/35 so small fighter will not can stand against Israel fighters

Sukhoi_Su-35B_camouflage_opt500x350_daneshju.ir.jpg

we can't purchase 150 Rafale over 5 year so only available is russian with better quilty request and Russian need recover Egyptian client
other echo Russian send $2.5 million tourism for Egypt yearly mean $2.5 billion pulse open Russian market for Egyptian product like agriculture , medicine and Egyptian furniture there is good balance of trade better than Chinese they don't want import Egyptian product why we need them must Chinese be out

Egypt already finish deal with Russian but with no announcement also Russian since 2005 for first deal for MIG-29SMT offer Maintenance center build in Egypt for overhaul Russian fighter in Egypt so logical choice continue with Russian and Russian do what they said

not only Egypt looking for other choice Turkish join to Koran KFX program pulse Indonesia future conflict need powerful fighter we don't need coffin

South Korea and Indonesia to start a joint project on KFX jet fighter

Turkey, Indonesia to join KF-X program
Turkey could join Korea’s fighter plan 8 Sep 2010 By Jung Sung-ki GYEONGJU, North Gyeongsang Province ― Turkey has shown a strong interest in joining Korea’s KF-X fighter development plan, after having already won investment from Indonesia, a chief of the military's aircraft programs said. Maj. Gen. Choi Cha-kyu, director general of the aircraft program bureau at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), said during a forum here Tuesday that Ankara is seriously considering participating in the KF-X program to replace its 180 older F-16 aircraft by 2020. “Turkey’s air force operates about 180 F-16 aircraft, and there will be a requirement to replace the older fighters with newer ones by 2020,” the two-star Air Force general said. “Once on board, Turkey is expected to bear the same amount of development costs as Indonesia.” Cha said the KF-X, which was initiated in 2002 but postponed due to financial and technological problems, will start next year with the consent of budget authorities. Industry sources say Turkey’s participation in the KF-X project could result in a barter deal. Ankara wants Seoul to consider its T-129 helicopter, under development for the Turkish Army, as a candidate for the AH-X heavy attack helicopter acquisition program. The KF-X program calls for developing an indigenous fighter similar to the latest F-16 by 2022 with financial support from foreign nations or defense companies. About 120 KF-Xs would be built initially and more than 130 aircraft would be produced additionally after the first-phase models reach operational capability. Korea will foot 60 percent of the KF-X development costs worth some 5 trillion won ($4.2 billion), with the balance to come from other governments or corporate partners in a “risk sharing” attempt. Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on July 15, Indonesia agreed to bear 20 percent of the bill and buy about 50 KF-X planes when mass production begins. The production costs after the development phase are estimated to be about 6 trillion won. Korea is seeking to receive relevant technology transfers from U.S. and European aerospace firms. Possible corporate partners include Boeing and Lockheed Martin of the United States, the European defense group EADS and Sweden’s Saab. The original proposal for the KF-X was to develop a fifth-generation stealth fighter, something that is in between the Dassault Rafale or Eurofighter Typhoon and the Lockheed Martin F-35. Amid controversy over the feasibility of the original plan, the DAPA commissioned a second study in April last year to the Weapons Systems Concept Development and Application Research Center of Konkuk University. The center then recommended a plan to develop an F-16 type aircraft fitted with the AESA radar, an electronic warfare suite and data link systems fit for a network-centric environment. The think tank also recommended the jet to have a combat radius about 1.5 times that of the F-16, an airframe life span 1.34 times longer than that of the F-16 and better avionics than that of the F-16 Block 50. Among other required capabilities are a thrust of 50,000 pounds, provided by either one or two engines, super-velocity intercept and supercruise capabilities, and the ability to hit targets in the air, on land and at sea. Israel and other countries that have F-16s may join this KF-X fighter development.

Sorry sir but none of what you wrote made any sense.

Sorry sir but none of what you wrote made any sense.

One thing makes sense.

If Egypt AF is to counter IsRF F-16s, F-15s & future F-35s, purchase of JFT doesn't make sense even with french avionics on later date. They need superb air dominance fighters like Su-30s & F-35s (If they get from US) or possible PAK-FA.

Don't worry, they are not inducting JF-17s to counter F-16s, F-15s or F-35s, rather they are gonna be used as second tier option, especially to replace the older 2nd gen aircraft in their inventory.

Israel will just get it blocked. There are considerable restrictions on Egypt. JF-17 may be the aircraft that changes this.
