Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Three buyers confirmed so far, looking for more.....

1. Egypt 48-92. license production (confirmed)

2. Azerbaijan 24 (confirmed)

3. Zimbabwe 12 (confirmed)

Azerbaijan signed agreement in China last year and Egyptians have denied Migs for JFT and an agreement on license production WILL BE signed in Pakistan very soon.

I think that the Egyptian and the rest of the orders are not for JF 17..rather they r for the FC-1 produced by China.

Please Correct me if im wrong with sources..

Incorrect: It is for JF-17 with Co-production rights:

According to Jane's Defence Weekly (Date Posted: 04-Mar-2010) Egypt is in talk with Pakistan on the co-production of the JF-17. If the deal goes through it will represent a major milestone for this program.

Cairo is in talks with Pakistan to begin joint production of JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft, Jane's understands from Egyptian defence industry sources.

Even as the talks continued regarding JF-17 assembly in Egypt, however, the US Department of Defense announced on 2 March that an initial contract worth some USD213 million had been finalised with Lockheed Martin for Egypt's procurement of additional F-16C/D multirole fighters.
..
..
..
While the number of aircraft Egypt plans to acquire has not been revealed, the inclusion of local assembly in the deal suggests that the contract would be for at least 48 JF-17s.

Brigadier General Mohammed Abdul Azim, a senior official at the government-owned Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI), told Jane's on 3 March that negotiations were continuing and that a final contract announcement was not expected for several weeks.

Yes..thats a price which you have to pay when you start something on your own..However if this is placed for export (if )..a part of development cost will be passed on to the customers...
Anyways the money spent will bear fruits in form of AMCA.

are you implying that LCA R n D will be used in AMCA?.....well thats surprising as AMCA is expected to be a 5th gen and medium class fighter so LCA wont be able to provide much for AMCA....considering its avionics, engine and alot of stuff will be foriegn

Nop, What he meant was the R&D done on Fixing the gap between 2nd gen Marut and 4th gen LCA would give more advantage while Researching on AMCA, And Why Cant we make our Avionics? Like come on sir, Almost all the aircrafts In Our Inventory are Run by Our Avionics..

And Engine Kaveri has already started to take shape... I can name all the Indigenous Components that we have and we can make for a fighter Aircraft

You guys are going off topic, keep it as per the title of the thread.

No need for bringing in LCA, MCA or whatever else.

Anymore off topic posts will be deleted.

one way or the other, we will get our share of $$

however it will be good that PAC manages to export some as there own as it will bring a good name to Pakistan in arms market and the reliability may well open doors for toerh indegenious equipments as Al-Khalid etc!!

saying all this,
let us get your facts straight, the Egyptian, the Azars bth have negotiated with PAC and Gov Pak for JFT and not FC!!

however, one thing is for sure, at the current point of time PAC is too busy to beef up the birds for PAF.

regards!

Margin will be very thin if you sell it to countries that are poor.May be they might give money in the form of access to natural resources.

it would be good if profit margin is atleast $10 Million so Pakistan will get atlest $5. so fighter should be priced atleast $25 Million

if pakistan sells it for 15 to 20 million then profit margin would be very less say $2 million per piece for Chengdu and PAF. which would take long time to recover the investment

so pricing is very important.. any news on package price being offered

so what?....its better to get something than nothing.....why to lose a 2 million when you can get it:D
and secondly the profit margin wont change greatly as the lower cost means lower level of avionics.....so margin can be kept intact:cheers:

these are the issues that will be only considered once we get the stone rolling...

at present point of time, the need of hour is to get the initial customer so that the potential of this bird get a global advertisment.

FC1 and JF 17 are the same birds. If it is not and what you say is true then what the hell Chinese were doing in FIA promoting and marketing JF17 along with their weapons ?

Pakistan holds a 58 % stake in entire program so whether an FC-1 version is sold or a jf-17, we will get 58 % of the profit as per agreement.

yes, that is true!
however selling some PAC made birds will open doors to other indegenious equipments as well as stated above.

it is all about getting the first stoner rolling...
