Apart from getting military hardware, it is a strategic move. China potentially giving billions $$ to Europe will affect US-EU relations. Now one can argue that maybe it is Uncle Sam's order to EU but still in the long run Chinese lobby will gain strength and can pressurize on many issues.
I think this deal will benefit more in terms of strategic policy/strong lobby rather than military equipment.

If EU Lifting Arms Embargo, I hope China will buy some military hardware from EU. China should also try to get Lic to start manufacturing in China.

Our AWACs are better than the European ones, and J-10 is better than Grippen.

We can develop our own naval planes and transport.

I do not believe that China currently is building any heavy lifters. I know they do have plans to build one but its still years away, isn't it?

i believe what china wants is electronics and engines, other stuff china can manage just fine right now
