England humiliated in World Cups 2015 - Cricket & Football

.
i don't understand why countries like ireland are not encouraged to play more active cricket , i mean they defeated pakistan in 2007 , this time they defeated west indies , zimbawe and they were about to post a 300 against india but ended up posting 260. It shows they can play some serious cricket and should be encouraged by ICC. I see ireland can easily take position of some countries like england or west indies because they are just paper tigers now.

Ireland captain atleast said that their win against west indies was not an upset , it was won convincingly.

World Cup - 'England are useless at cricket and football' says sporting legend

England's group stage exit at the hands of Bangladesh has come as no surprise to former World Cup winner who claims Eoin Morgan and company are "a nothing side".

The big and small of world cricket have been having their say after a 15-run defeat on Monday meant England were knocked out of the 50-over showpiece - f our defeats from five games coming after a tri-series which had raised expectations.

Bangladesh could now face defending champions India in the quarter-finals, although Gavaskar, in an interview with NDTV, quipped: "I think it would have been easier playing England in the quarters!

"Look at their form. England have won only one game, they are a nothing side.

"Every time there is a World Cup (in) football, everyone speaks how they will do this and that but at the end of the day, they are just an overrated team both cricket-wise and football-wise."

As England's chase ended on 260 in the 49th over, a few cricket associations from across the English channel and beyond were quick to offer their help in the rebuilding process.

Responding to an online user, the Czech Republic cricket board's twitter account wrote: "Given the improvements in our team, @harisschaudhary, I doubt @ECB_cricket could even count on us for a morale boost!"

The Japanase Cricket Association was not far behind, tweeting: "Dear @ECB_cricket, this might not be a great time, but as there's room in your schedule, fancy a game in Japan on the way home? #challenge

England has a long tradition of cricket. They will make a comeback. However having said that, losing to Afghanistan must be avoided at all cost !!

He is one to talk. He is a terrible player. I'm sure the next worldcup won't have him either. Then again PCB was given to the likes of Najam Sethi so i shouldn't hold my breath.

This is a fake nasir jamshaid account.

I would rate ireland and afghanistan in the same league as Bnagladesh rather better .

Thats what happens when you value foreign talent in BPL. Teams are no longer looking for local talent nor grooming the local talent like before.
When you have guys like Wilshere, Shaw, Glen Johnson starting a game, you are SHIT. Look at Saido Berahino, he acts like he is the next Messi but in reality, he is just an over-rated over-paid and over-hyped British player.

Haha love this account. England seriously need to change their attitude towards cricket. Players natural talents arent encouraged here. Rather they are turned into machines with all adopting similar styles. An excerpt from this article pretty much sums up England's attitude towards cricket.

"It is at Loughborough - Bluffborough as it should be known - where fast bowlers are homogenised, where individuality is crushed and where a game that should be largely instinctive and joyful becomes scientific and filled with fear. At every level, coaches and support staff motivated by justifying their own continued employment, tinker and tamper with natural talent. Players prosper despite, not because, of their involvement.

England have, for some time, preferred pliable characters in their team. They have preferred graft over flair. They have alienated difference and given too much credit to those "from the right sort of family" rather than those who might win games. In England, the greater crime is to be caught at long-on rather than leaving a straight ball.

Could AB de Villiers or Lasith Malinga or Muttiah Muralitharan have developed in England? Could Mitchell Starc or Chris Gayle survived? Could Brendon McCullum have been given the freedom or Glenn Maxwell the backing? It seems doubtful."

England's commercial interests threaten World Cup, Test cricket

SPORTS DESK — PUBLISHED FEB 26, 2015 05:20PM

The next cricket World Cup could be a 40-over-a-side affair if a proposal by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is adopted by the International Cricket Council (ICC), ESPNCricinfo reported.

The proposal is part of a discussion between the chairmen of the English counties and the ECB and has been formalised in the shape of a document titled 'Strategy Conversation Summary'.

Among other proposals in the document, one suggestion which threatens the tradition of cricket is reducing Tests to four days and cutting down the number of games in a season. It is understood that the changes have been suggested to accommodate the English Premier League, which according to the document would be "a dominant T20 tournament" competing with the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash League, two commercially successful leagues.

In February 2014, the ICC passed a wide-ranging and controversial shake-up of its governance and structure despite strident protests that it gave too much power to the "Big Three" of India, England and Australia.

In the revamped ICC, India — which contributes 80 percent of global revenues — and fellow powerhouses England and Australia have permanent seats on a new, five-member executive committee.

The committee will make recommendations to the decision-making body, the ICC board, which is chaired by India's N. Srinivasan.

"While the next World Cup is to be staged in England in 2019, there is no way that the ECB - soon to be rebranded Cricket England and Wales as the ECB brand is seen as toxic - could unilaterally decide a change in its format. Equally, they do not have the power to change the length of Test matches, although if England, seen as the great defender of the primacy of Test cricket, is questioning the five-day format, then others may soon follow," George Dobell wrote in his column for ESPNCricinfo.

According to the document, it has been suggested that the president of the ECB Giles Clarke use his influence in the ICC to give these proposals some sort of shape, particularly the implementation of a 40-over World Cup.

The ICC is yet to respond to this development but as seen in the 'Big Three' affair and its surrender of power, the world body is unlikely to be in a position to negotiate if its arm is twisted.

It also likely that in chasing commercial interests, cricket may yet see another big division as Shard Urga puts it.

"Yes, these discussions will have to get past county chairmen, the MCC and the ICC. Yes, we understand that the business side of the argument is a powerful one. In the past, English cricket has given rise to radical ideas, and what has usually happened is that the world runs away with those radical ideas - like limited-overs and T20. The accountants will state with certainty that this may be the germ of another brilliant one."
