Seeing this upgrade of an older t72 raises the very interesting possibility that there is not just one tank program, the karrar, which many of us,myself included, thought was going to be a mixture of brand new tanks built to this standard as well as the older t72s being rebuilt to the same karrar standard. It now seems possible that there are in fact 2 tank programs, one dedicated to building a brand new tank, the karrar, and another program which is an upgrade for the older t72 that no doubt uses some karrar technology but is not a total rebuild into a karrar.
Theres a hell of a lot of surprises coming out of iran right at the moment.:woot:

spike has multiple meaning ...

miikh has multiple meaning in Persian ...

for example impaling mean "be mikh keshi'dan" in Persian ... no one impale anyone with nail !!!

How is the "ii" pronounced,is it like mike or meek?
meek .... you can read it as "mea'kh or meekh" ....

Mikhm means nail (hammer) Nakhon means nail (finger).
what a lenghty debate.

Spike means Meekh (میخ) but not any sort of Meekh . it's a very long Meekh something that sometimes we call (میخ طویله) Meekh-e-Tavileh if you want to translate it literally it means Barn Nail

kind of disappointed to see the hoveyze not getting enough PDF coverage here (or I cant find the link)

western media made a big note of it, and it seems like a strategic leap for iran to possess an almost unstoppable cruise missile capable of hitting anywhere in Israel.

or am I getting the hoveyze all wrong here?

Hoveyze is the heavily upgraded Soumar. We have discussed those missiles to death in the past. It is still definitely an achievement. How many nations can build a cruise missile including it's jet engine with more than 1300km range? Answer: Not many at all.

Hoveyze is not a “heavily upgraded” Soumar in fact it is a step backwards.

Hoveyze is either the failure of Iran to reverse engineer the Kh-55 engine or the failure of Iran to reverse engineer the engine economically for mass production.

Furthermore, having the capability to hit an enemy at 1000KM away with a cruise missile and actually being able to do it are two different things.

What is the guidance system? With out access to GPS, the CM will have to rely on interial guidance, terrain mapping, and possibly image verification if fitted with a proper seeker. Without proper guidance, on the fly flight changes (changing targets or avoiding radar coverage) becomes much more difficult.

The engine and size and lack of angle reducing design means RCS will be high.

I’ll be surprised if IRGC orders this in large numbers rather than wait for the technology to mature.
