Hoveyze is not a “heavily upgraded” Soumar in fact it is a step backwards.

Hoveyze is either the failure of Iran to reverse engineer the Kh-55 engine or the failure of Iran to reverse engineer the engine economically for mass production.

Furthermore, having the capability to hit an enemy at 1000KM away with a cruise missile and actually being able to do it are two different things.

What is the guidance system? With out access to GPS, the CM will have to rely on interial guidance, terrain mapping, and possibly image verification if fitted with a proper seeker. Without proper guidance, on the fly flight changes (changing targets or avoiding radar coverage) becomes much more difficult.

The engine and size and lack of angle reducing design means RCS will be high.

I’ll be surprised if IRGC orders this in large numbers rather than wait for the technology to mature.

Could they have made it over that GPS hurdle theoretically and just haven't told anyone?

Soumar had a range of around 700km... Howveyze has a range of almost double that. This is clearly due to a new engine. They have also stated it is using more advanced systems such as anti-electronic warfare compared to Soumar. For whatever reason, they have not used the KH-55 engine.I have no idea what guidance this systems will use. I don't see this as anything game changing for Iran. Matter of fact, I don't see them producing these in vast numbers. The money is better spent on the likes of Dezfoul missile in my opinion. I want to see what is this Howveyze missile's place in Iran's doctrine.

You bring up a really good point. Just where in the hell does this missile fit into Irans military planning? They look expensive to produce.

I wanna say this missile has an obviously high destructive output and would most likely be used against bigger ticket targets (provided that this weapon has exceptional accuracy and some sort of GPS guidance to help it find targets) but again those bigger targets will be well guarded by advanced AD platforms which will undoubtedly see this missile coming due to its high RCS. Meaning Iran would have to either produce a substantial amount of these or use them in conjunction with missiles like the Dezfoul and Fateh in a saturation attack when striking a potential target. Or something else idk lol.

Honestly Iran's drone program is more interesting to me than the BM or CM programs. Irans has a future in expanding the flying wing design of drones and hopefully developing a better engine that will allow for bigger drones that ultimately carry larger payloads.
