Does the PN need an aircraft carrier?

. .
Maybe it is still a good idea to prepare for that right now: training the crew and pilots, building the protective warships and submarines.
Once the aircraft carrier is born, it will get the joint operational power rapidly.

.
it is not a cost effective way for PN doctrine, forget about it

Please comment on this video. I am sure few CBG would be any navy's ultimate dream . But being practical i would say it's too early for PN to think about AC now. Rather spens the money where it can impriove Pakistan's economy.

For those of my friends who keep arguing that Pakistan needs an aircraft carrier. Let me quote what the UK First Sea Lord, Admiral Lord West says about the UK’s new 65,000 DWT aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth ((Warship International October 2017, page 3)

“RN must have 30 escorts to ensure Queen Elizabeth is safe”.

The aircraft carrier cost £6.2-billion excluding cost of the aircrafts that will be stationed on her. Assuming escorts to be a mixture of anti-sub and anti-aircraft frigates; RN new Type 31 class frigate costs £350-million each, even
the cut price Type 31e will cost close to £250-million. This translates into another £7.5 billion!

Put a hand on your heart and ask, can we really justify or afford such an expensive hardware for the Pak Navy?

PN needs carrier killers instead AC as our worst enemy is in much close proximity. May be CM400AKG has become fully operational with App 240 KM+ range, and Babur CM (Naval) version with 500KM+ range are quite enough to threaten IN ACs. However we should look to develop Antship Ballistic Missile like China with longer ranges. It is difficulty task but with proper implication of Beidou System in Pak may be it can become possible to target an IN AC at 1000 KM+ away in near future. The given solutions are much applicable rather then day dreaming about AC for PN.

It is much better to start discussion about near future carrier killer choices for PN.

though they r expensive but its about time r navy should get one our navy needs to b upgraded seriously by cutting on our expenses(luxury) i think v can afford one.
Instead we should build a couple of artificial islands in our eez as China did some of em can also be used for commercial purposes to pay off the venture more reliable

Let us look at thread starting Year , year was 2009 now almost 8 years gone by, Can any one here upload the list of New Ships we bought or add in our Navy Fleet................ Please...........
First we need a fleet then the fleet carrier (AC or Helicopter carrier). If the AC cost us 5 Billion$$ we can add strong punch with that money .....
  • 2 Billion $$$ for 4 western Subs (upto 500 Million Each)
  • 2 Billion $$$ for 4 Type 52D Destroyers (upto 500 Million Each)
  • 1 Billion $$$ for 4 (almost) Type 54A+ Frigates (upto 300 Million Each)
If we have 5 Billion $$ , Then time (years) + money in hand + payment scheme etc will give us extra benefit , we can or may add few FACs in above list with same money.............
Now what is good having one AC (without a fleet ) or a Fleet without AC?????????

This happens to be size of our largest ships we made locally in last 5 years

Let us all not get carried away only a 10 year old thread and we have not done much from nemerical addition prespective

While no planes can fly from it , the Duckie can grow up someday and fly on it's own power (One day it will happen)

And that is how we view our Tiny boat development program some day these ships will grow up into larger ships on their own

Great Sir! You have now laid down a number, . Now wait until someone come up with a claim how we are going for a strong economy and in 5 years we will have these 15-18 Billion US Dollars to spend on an aircraft carrier. We already have many "money is not a problem" guys here. :)
