Having a tilt is not a problem. BNP might be pro-Pakistan. That's not a problem. Like AL, they're pro India, but when negotiating with India, they always make sure that Bangladesh always gets benefited more. Like how BNP might be pro Pak, but when they make deals with Pak or China, they ensure BD benefits.

The Jamaat e Islami however is nothing but a proxy of Pakistan. They take their orders from Rawalpindi(Pakistan Army) directly and will do anything - including harm Bangladesh for the sake of Pakistan Army.

But why drag China into this mess. China is the perfect country Bangladesh can use to balance out Indian hegemony and yet its showing China the cold shoulder. Forget Pakistan in this whole equation for your nations own good.

We are always warm to BD, we Chinese are pro BD. For me, I'm pro BD, I don't like Burmeses.

Although Chinese government apparently pro Burma, I think people are pro BD more.

Imo renovating Mongla for a sea port was a mistake from start. Payra should have been the sea port instead. Payra is situated in a suitable position far away from Sundarban. Mongla should have been a river port as it is now and never could be fully materialized. And the danger of operating it inside Sundarban and disturbing animal life there. And Matarbari is just 25 km away from Sonadia as the port can be extended later as Japanese company also studied for a port in Sonadia before Chinese. The Japanese offer was better than Chinese that is all. Just let the work start. And the Indian TOI is famous for making news out of thin air.

The problem with Payra port is the large deposit of siltation in the area which will require massive dredging routinely. It's just not suitable for a deep sea port...

I doubt that... I have never seen AL publicly acknowledging their pro-India stance...

I just see it as an alternative or addition to Mongla or better than CHT which sits idle without high tide. But my bait for deep sea port is matarbari which can be extended later to Sonadia too.
