Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)

.
What you have mentioned are basically freight corridors for the railways. What I was talking about were Industrial Corridors which include industrial zones spanning across the Eastern states which would spur economic development in the region and develop industries.

This would see major expansion of Infrastructure and Industry – including smart cities, industrial clusters along with rail, road, port, air connectivity – in the states along the route of the Corridor. Many smart cities too would be developed alongside.

The backbone of the project however would be a Dedicated Freight Corridor that would cut the logistical costs of manufactured goods to make it the lowest in the world. India needs to employ over 100 million people within the next decade and thus such a project would be of vital importance to develop manufacturing centres that could employ millions as well as form a springboard to South East Asia.

One thing firstly the DMIC only got possible because of Japnese investment.

On other thing, when Eastern Corridor go operational, how much you think it get neglected by the industrialist? Thought about this. A 33t axle load track is just not for fun.
How much East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor get neglected by the industrialists?

On other note, why you bring the Modi in discussion, when it have nothing to do with NDA?

Spot on buddy dedicated freight corridor will run parallel to industrial corridor bisecting the indian states of DMIC which will act as a back bone for DMIC for seamless transportation of goods as it is shown in the DMIC youtube video in the beginning of the thread and also as i mentioned in my earlier posts. Actually it's not right to link it with anyone party because the main work is done by DIPP and DMICDC which includes indian and japanese members, government let it be congress or BJP only provides money.

Most probably, Pakistan will run them on bio diesel. Pakistan exports a lot of bio diesel and if this could be used to run these locomotives that would be good.

Electrification of the track cannot be done at the moment as shortage of power. Once you have CPEC producing at least 5000MW of power, then one can think of electrification of tracks.
The more pakistani railways will lay tracks the more it will be beneficial to them because they have very lessk kms of railway tracks as compared to the size of pakistan

There is not much technical support and even if there is technical support , we need FDI for that. To run a train you need 20kV of power lines running atleast 500-1000km, we don't have power for normal industries like sugar mill and residents.

The track system will be planned according to the industrial set up.

The electrification is needed and this will come only after CPEC project. One can begin the planning on paper and start implementing 2-3 years before the completion of CPEC.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday approved the construction of trunk infrastructure components and landscaping for Phase-1 of the Shendra Bidkin Industrial Area (SBIA) in Maharashtra’s Shendra region.

The total cost of the project, spreading across 8.39 square kilometres in Maharashtra in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), is estimated to be approximately Rs. 1533.45 crore, which will be invested by the DMIC Trust as equity in the city/node SPV, viz, Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL).

The trunk infrastructure components are Road and Utility Services, Rail over bridges (RoBs), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and Solid Waste Management (SWM), District Administrative Building (DAB) for SBIA and Area landscaping for Phase-1 of SBIA are being considered initially for development in Phase-1.

The primary objective of developing the project area is to trigger developmental activities in SBIA and attract local and global investments. This area shall also help in building confidence in the market bringing the effort of the past half-a-decade to fruition.

The development of Trunk Infrastructure in Phase-1 of SBIA is proposed to commence in FY 2015-16 and is likely to be completed by FY 2017-18 after all necessary approvals.

A node/city level SPV has been formed as a joint venture between the Government of India (GoI) and Government of Maharashtra (GoM) under the name ‘Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL)’.

The share of GoI through DMIC Trust is 49 percent and the remaining 51 percent is held by GoM through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

The MIDC has notified 101 sq km of area for industrial development under SBIA. The master plan covers an area of around 84.17 sq. km and the remaining area which is approximately 15 percent is intended for rehabilitation of the Project Affected Population (PAP).

The SBIA master plan area of 84.17 sq km is further split into two parts viz Part-I and Part-II.

The Part -I consists of total area of 41.42 sq km, which is further divided into two parts viz Phase-I and phase-II. Phase -I covers an area of 8.39 sq km located north of Jalna Road adjoining existing MIDC Shendra Industrial Park. Phase-ll includes the remaining area of 32.03 sq km located near Bidkin for which the preliminary design of roads and services is to be taken up shortly.

The development of the Part-II of SBIA consisting of total area of 42.75 sq km will be taken up at a later stage depending on the land made available by the state government.

Investment in the development of trunk infrastructure is essential for the creation of a Greenfield smart industrial city. Phase-I of 8.39 sq km will kick start the development of the SBIA covering 84.17 sq km.

The development of the SBIA as a manufacturing hub will generate a series of direct and indirect benefits through enhancement of GDP, establishment of manufacturing industries and generation of significant employment. The development of Phase-I on sustainable and green building practices will create benchmarks for urban development in the country.

The government is developing the DMIC Project, as a global manufacturing and investment destination, by utilising the high capacity 1483 kilometre long Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC),

Bhai is this continuation of some old project or something new started by our communal government ?

Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)

Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is India's most ambitious Infrastructure programme aiming to develop new industrial cities as 'Smart Cities' and converging next generation technologies across infrastructure sectors. The objective is to expand India's manufacturing and services base and develop DMIC as a "Global Manufacturing and Trading Hub". The programme will provide a major impetus to planned urbanization in India with manufacturing as the key driver. In addition to new Industrial Cities, the programme envisages development of infrastructure linkages like power plants, assured water supply, high capacity transportation and logistics facilities as well as softer interventions like skill development programme for employment of the local populace.

Conceived as a global manufacturing and trading hub, the project is expected to double employment potential, triple industrial output and quadruple exports from the region in five years. The total employment to be generated from the project is 3 million, the bulk of which will be in the manufacturing/processing sectors. The availability of labour resource is at approximately 50+ million in the immediate influence zone and 250+ million across the states where this project passes through. There are several high quality and renowned educational institutions across the states such as IIT, IIM,Birla Institute of Technology and Science and many more institutes such as Indian Institute of Information Technology are planned along corridor.

DMIC.jpg

The backbone of the project would be the Dedicated Freight Corridor - a dedicated freight railway line that would cut the logistical costs of manufactured goods to make it the lowest in the world. .The work is already underway and progressing at a rapid pace, with the Dedicated Freight Corridor expected to be completed by 2017.

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor covers a distance of 1483 km of double line electric (2 X 25 KV) track from JNPT to Dadri via Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Palanpur-Phulera-Rewari.

03._Girder_Launching_of_Bridge_No._401.jpg

The traffic on the Western Corridor mainly comprises of ISO containers from JNPT and Mumbai Port in Maharashtra and ports of Pipavav, Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat destined for ICDs located in northern India, especially at Tughlakabad, Dadri and Dandharikalan. Besides Containers, other commodities moving on the Western DFC are POL, Fertilizers, Food grains, Salt, Coal, Iron & Steel and Cement. Further, owing to its faster growth as compared to other commodities, the share of container traffic is expected to progressively increase and reach a level of about 80% by 2021-22

Anything for south ? :(
