CPEC Projects in KPK: Where has it gone wrong ?

Feel free to discuss whether CPEC projects listed below are wrong and what needs to be added to remove concerns, if any.


Industrial and Economic Zones
:

Marble and Granite based industrial estate at Mansehra (80 acres, mining)

Industrial estate Nowshera (1,000 acres, manufacturing)

Expansion of Industrial Estate Hattar (424 acres, manufacturing)

Industrial estate at Chitral (80 acres, food processing)

Industrial Estate Ghazi (90 acres, manufacturing)

industrial estate Dera Ismail Khan (188 acres, manufacturing)

Industrial estate at border of Kohat and Karak and industrial

Economic zone at Bannu (400 acre) identified as sites for SEZs under the CPEC.

While Punjab is being blamed for getting the whole share, there will be 8 special economic zones in the KP while 7 such zones in Punjab.


Energy Projects:

870 MW Suki Kanari Hydropower Project

2,160 MW Dasu Hydropower Project


Dry Ports:

Havelian Dry Port


Highways / Expressways :

Thalkot - Havelian (KKH Phase 2) 120 Km

Mansehra - Hassanabdal Expressway (E-35) 110 Km

Nowshera - Chitral (N-45) 309 Km

Quetta - DI Khan (N-50) 531 Km


Railways:

New Rail track Havelian - Khunjrab 682 Km

Upgrade and Electrification of Karachi-Peshawar Rail track (ML-1) 1,961 Km

New Rail track Quetta - DI Khan (Extension of ML-3) 560 Km

New Rail track Peshawar - Jalalabad 146 Km

Nowhere, just stupid provincial bs politics, and people playing into it. Actual criticism is fine, but most of it seems baseless.

How about pointing to substantial data to support your claims ? (Link to feasibility studies would be fine)

Lack of transparency, originally western route was supposed to be constructed first but then the main emphasis has shifted to eastern route which is longer and economically doesn't make sense.

KPK and Baluchistan has seen years of neglect from our own provincial and federal government, resentment is on the rise as we have suffered from terrorism and lack of opportunity and prosperity.

Blaming PTI and any other party as being part of the Indian scheme of things is wrong as is this more about our province and its future and regardless of party affiliation we work to better the lives of our community and stand against discrimination and deception and just want our equal share of rights.

Quite painful to hear khawaja saad rafique labelling anyone who questions CPEC as an Indian agent, how can we sit and resolve issue with such people when they hold such mentality.

That's not how it works. If someone is going to claim that the project is somehow biased in favour one province over another. The burden of proof is on them to supply information and evidence, not for me or anyone else to try and disprove it. Also, feasibility studies for some projects are still underway. But the main criticism is facile that is has nothing to do with details, only a single dotted line on a map, and misrepresentation of the entire CPEC projects.

COme on yaar why would one post the Feasibility report publicly???

They just announced the projects and then they inaugurate it simple

the roads are not even there yet Pakistan is Energy Deficient Country first let them build roads and Power Projects every other thing is gonna take time CPEC is a project for 30 Freaking years

There is no single route. This is false.

I appreciate there may not be a single route but why not start with the shorter root that is economically viable and also brings a change in the lives of people of the less developed areas and removes any resentment they have.

We can then move to other routes which are already in developed areas and there is already decent infrastructure.

The feasibility reports are not state secrets. It's a means to monitor the implementation success.

Grow up ! Not everything is about conspiracy to sell an economy down the drain !

Once again there may not be a single route but let's start with routes that pass through backward and impoverished areas, what's the harm in that we know the western route has already decent infrastructure.

We stand by the stance of our provincial government, even other parties such as ANP, JUIF etc support this stance, let there be transparency and equal benefit for all.

What you're saying now makes little sense. Of course projects should be made to include development in less developed areas. I agree with you, more ought to be done.

But the people you said you support, are claiming that there is one route- there is NOT one route. They claim that it favours some provinces over others, proportionally speaking it does not.

And 'routes' ought to be replaced with what the actual thing we're discussing here, rail links and highways, these will be decided based off of geography, need, and typically meant to also give access and transportation links between cities. It makes no sense in this day to make a 6 lane highway between North Waziristan and Turbat. It does make sense to make one between Karachi and Lahore, Lahore and Islamabad, Islamabad and Peshawar.

Also, I agree with the calls for transparency, but for what little transparency there is, critics of the project have not made use of it, they've read zero details and jumped to silly conclusions.
