CPEC Projects in KPK: Where has it gone wrong ?

I can put the same question to you, what was the original eastern route or so called not a single route, I ask the same if you to come up with facts rather maps that you claim to be original but supporting the agenda of one party and one province.

Wake up and smell the coffe it's not about PTI other provincial parties are supporting the stance of Khattak some of those who have been in bed with the n league and even the governor of KPK who is a nooni.

I find it weird even mentioning the word 'original' The feasibility studies were conducted and finalized during the first 2 years of this government and whatever the planning commission has posted is what it is for the next 5 years only. Mind you CPEC isn't a single road, its a massive project which will continue until 2030 and the figure of investment will exceed the $45 Billion mark. Besides roads,it consists of railways, industrial zones, energy projects etc. Just to give you an example, negotiations are ongoing for including Basha Dam for the next phase. So it isn't a one time deal, things will be adding as we get along.

but the tender was given by NHA itself

National Highway Authority

I think you are confusing two things here.
We are talking about the 11 billion out of 47 billion that Chinese banks are giving us to develop the CPEC project. If any of those tenders are from outside the money in discussion here , why bother bringing it in when they are not even part of discussion.

There is no approval for funds for this section in the PSDP 2015-2016 document .Have a look at it yourself. Looks like NHA is just getting ready so they start off as soon as funds are available, maybe thats why they are extending the pq dates to January 16th.

OH wait.you see the date this tender was published...December 30th 2015 so did this happen as a result of the pressure Federal faced from KPK??? hmmmmm

But feasibility of the project was done a month ago.... :P if many projects are waiting just to get funds no one can say that the gov is not willing to work on them .... the deadline is there of western route which is 2018 and they'll complete it in due time

.
I appreciate there may not be a single route but why not start with the shorter root that is economically viable and also brings a change in the lives of people of the less developed areas and removes any resentment they have.

We can then move to other routes which are already in developed areas and there is already decent infrastructure.

Bahi shahib, Our soldiers have lost lives working in balochistan working on Western Route around 14 I guess. I find it very strange if someone says Western Route is ignored.

bohat saada ho yaar aap.. only once funds are allocated we can say things are going in a direction. like i said see the PUBLISH date on the TENDER you shared 30th december 2015 .. goes to show the pressure federal felt..still we need to make sure the psdp document shows it..There was anAPC meeting today and it dint mention anything about this DI Khan - Baramhma-bahtra route attached are the slides of what ahsan iqbal presented.

PTI after showing no results in 3 years has only left with one option....create problems.

CPEC_failiure.jpg

Based on this , it is clear that the area in Yellow is not benefiting from Power plant creation / Minning or Metro projects
Cities of Peshawar / Quetta are not getting benefit of infrastructure projects

With budget of 43 Billion one would have imagined
  • 7 Billion were reserved for KPK infrastructure projects (Peshawar )
  • 7 Billion were reserved for Baluchistan infrastructure project (Gawadar/Quetta)
  • KPK is getting around 3 Billion only
  • Baluchistan / Gwadar area is getting mere 1.75 Billion only

Seems like Sindh / Punjab has taken 35 Billion dollars worth of development

When Gawadar is in Baluchistan , and shortest distance goes from KPK

If KPK / Baluchistan were getting equal share ($$$ value)

  • They can construct Metro introduced in their cities
  • They can both get Quetta /Peshawar to get International Airports
  • They can setup Solar power plants
  • They can setup Refineries

Simple giving 1 DAM and small highway is not enough for KPK

And giving small tiny "projects" around gawadar are all 10 million to 230 million range

Feel free to discuss whether CPEC projects listed below are wrong and what needs to be added to remove concerns, if any.

Industrial and Economic Zones
:

Marble and Granite based industrial estate at Mansehra (80 acres, mining)

Industrial estate Nowshera (1,000 acres, manufacturing)

Expansion of Industrial Estate Hattar (424 acres, manufacturing)

Industrial estate at Chitral (80 acres, food processing)

Industrial Estate Ghazi (90 acres, manufacturing)

industrial estate Dera Ismail Khan (188 acres, manufacturing)

Industrial estate at border of Kohat and Karak and industrial

Economic zone at Bannu (400 acre) identified as sites for SEZs under the CPEC.

While Punjab is being blamed for getting the whole share, there will be 8 special economic zones in the KP while 7 such zones in Punjab.

Energy Projects:

870 MW Suki Kanari Hydropower Project

2,160 MW Dasu Hydropower Project

Dry Ports:

Havelian Dry Port

Highways / Expressways :

Thalkot - Havelian (KKH Phase 2) 120 Km

Mansehra - Hassanabdal Expressway (E-35) 110 Km

Nowshera - Chitral (N-45) 309 Km

Quetta - DI Khan (N-50) 531 Km

Railways:

New Rail track Havelian - Khunjrab 682 Km

Upgrade and Electrification of Karachi-Peshawar Rail track (ML-1) 1,961 Km

New Rail track Quetta - DI Khan (Extension of ML-3) 560 Km

New Rail track Peshawar - Jalalabad 146 Km
Wait and watch as it is going to be messy more.just need to hang some bad

What I shudder to think is that this will go on till 2030 .. For the next 14 years we will have political and provincial parties fighting amongst each other... Tbh I don't see cpec happening or really struggling unless we have a single party rule aka one political party keeps winning the elections bcz the moment pti will come they will shelve half the projects and start held new ones and then N comes afterwards and they will do the same.

The federal must convince the provincial govts to work on this and join habds in actually doing this for the benefit of Pakistan. Hah benefit of Pakistan is a concept lost to us. Selfishness runs in our viens.

It would be fair if KPK demands 7 Billion USD from Federal government so it can also develop its province

Completely fair!

Since KPK is getting 2 Billion already they are owed 5 Billion dollars , for Provincial Grant so they can build what ever infrastructure project they need for the region

Out of 5 Billions owed
KPK can build

  • International Airport in 1 Airport in Peshawar International Quality (230 Million)
  • KPK can build Metro Bus in 6 Cities (Cost 250 Million)
  • KPK can use 1 Billion for Solar power plants 250 Million)
  • KPK can setup Refinery in for oil processing (1.5 Billion)
  • Mining project for extracting minerals in KPK (1 Billion)
  • Divert (1 Billion) to Hospital Infrastructure Improvement Fund

Similarly Baluchistan , got 1.75 Billion to 2.0 Billion for projects they are also owed around 5.5 Billion dollars so they can develop infrastructure proejcts in Quetta

All in all Federal Government has illegally allocated 10.5 Billion Dollars
distributed illegally which points to BAD GOVERNANCE

You can't have GAWADAR when all the honey goes to Sindh and Punjab

Note: There are DAM project and power plant projects outside of CPEC being constructed in KPK!!! Which is great federal initiative however the discussion is about CPEC investment

Also there is some description of future plans to develop economic zones benefiting KPK and Baluchistan

Who watched CM KPK yesterday interview with Arshad Sharif ? He sums up it really well.
He said we asked the federal govt to provide the details of the project but they are ignoring and hiding it while the so called master of projects ahsan showing just a simple MOU.
He said what he feels is there is some bussiness going on between chinese companies and the NOORa family.
Lets see...
ANP is Indian agents PTI is indian agents Baluchistan people are indian agents OOhh man..
Another Bangladesh is in the making .. So let it be

You guys need to pick one route & stick with it. Get it up & running, when you have establish a basis of development, then spread it out to other areas, like what we do with our coastal provinces getting priorities, then move inland to the central & western regions. It took us decades to implement these development & resource allocation, have patience & plan accordingly.

You are talking about patient nations who have the best interest of the nation at heart. Over here we have regional provincial and racial bias flowing from everywhere. This attitude from this project has disillusioned. I now know that we can never compete with the world or India. That our fate is to be a backward nation. The world thinks about their nation and we are a selfish breed each one of us and that is why we have failed for 70 years and we will continue to fail. The lack of unity is so much that some are happy to see Pakistan disintegrate.

This madness in us will always prevail and we will always fail bcz of that. The provincial govts will remain rigid, balochistan govt wants some extremely weird laws implemented on top of that and the federal ( be it any party in the govt) will always look after their own province first thus will struggle to convince them.

What a quagmire..

A mega project in KPK that should be mentioned no direct connection to CPEC direct investment , there is chinese banks involved

COMPLETION DATE MARCH 2019 , Cost of About US$4.278 billion
Will provide Water storage & Electricity to KPK and Pakisatan

The Dasu Dam is a gravity dam currently being constructed on the Indus River near Dasu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. The 242 m (794 ft) tall dam will support a 4,320 MW hydroelectric power station which will be built in two 2,160 MW stages. Water from the reservoir will be diverted to the power station located about 3.5 km (2.2 mi) downstream.[1] The first stage was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on 29 March 2014.[2] That stage will cost an estimated US$4.278 billion. Funding is being provided by the World Bank (US$700 million), the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (US$1.5 billion), Deutsche Bank (US$1 billion) and Aga Khan Development Network (US$500 Million). Completion of stage one is expected in March 2019.

This is a HUGE project ! in KPK
