Copy copy copy!!!

.
consider our selves lucky, wt about the people that wrote the story, in Hollywood, never got anything.

Whether it is singers or composers the key word here is not 'Pakistani' because Pakistani composers are not targeted in particular for being Pakistani. VIctims of plagiarism are all over the world.

.
If your movie industry paid these singers like they paid Nazia Hassan and Atif Aslam, I wouldn't have made this thread, that's why I didn't put up any of Nazia Hassan's and Atif Aslam's songs that were used in Indian movies because they got paid unlike majority of Pakistani singers whose songs are stolen by Bollywood.

Omar bhai what you point out is right. We in India are also aware that lot of songs are copied from across the border. So no justification on that as copy right laws have to be made stricter.

Regarding your making the thread that I don't agree to as any thing anti India or any news that makes India look down gets your heart pumping. So if it was not this issue it would be some other issue but you will be on the look out.

Friends we have a legacy of hate so why not once in a while post some thing that makes us feel good about each other and help us narrow down our divide so that we can concentrate on urgent matters of roti ,kapda and makan for our masses.

This is not bashing of India here, this problem of stealing other singers' work without permission is going on for decades and needs to be addressed. Bollywood is a multi-billion dollar industry its our Pakistani singers who are being ripped off when their hard work is stolen and they are not even given 1 rupee by the multi-billion dollar industry who have stolen their songs.

<MODE:Devil's Advocate=off>

I agree about what you say. Even if money is not transferred at least the credit should go where they should. One way of getting this is to get India to sign a treaty on copyright with stricter provisions (atleast making the remix thing illegal).
And then make sure that India has something to gain from credibly enforcing copyright (or it has to face ridicule otherwise).
American/Indian studios have already sued some Bollywood directors for copying storyline etc.

SPICY IP: Bollywood abound with suits for copyright infringement

Ghajini producers face law suit over title copyright

Indian courts may be the best friend the foreign IP owners have - they have never been partisan and have usually enforced the rules pretty strictly.

Maybe they are but I doubt they are with Pakistanis, India is the country that wants to declare Pakistan a "terrorist state" and at the same time they use our music in their movies.

Dear Omar,
I understand you feeling towards issue, I would like to tell you that there not only Pakistan is suffer of Copy write issue but other country country like India, USA also suffer. so don't be so emotional. If you want to real justice on such issue then person should be neutral.
First and most IMP thing that suffer should come forward for legal right, there is not much effect (wait age) of supporter without suffer

Please don't blame for industry for individual work

I agree that there should be a LAW Passed in Both countries regarding palgarism ..

There is no such law right now

.
I don't know what is the big deal about this matter. One just need to look at China with all there benchmarking, now that is more serious then some entertaiment industries.

Foreign policy of the government is separate from profit driven, private, entertainment industry. Moreover there are no Pakistan specific copyright laws in India.I believe Berne copyright convention applies to all countries, it is not a bilateral issue.

The cassette makers will happily copy music from old Hindi movies , regional movies and Arab music videos with as much relish as from a Pakistani movie.

The reason Pakistani music is copied is that the language is pretty much the same and that sometimes they are pretty good.

There is a law in India at least, but that has a loophole big enough to drive a tank through. I think it was originally meant to protect classical music etc. but right now is of great benefit to Remix "artists".

Maybe you guys should ask your government to talk to Indian government about signing a treaty fixing the loophole. Or maybe just file a suit in an Indian court to see if you can get the judge to interpret the law differently.

Indian artists don't really care because the loophole allows them to make money and also helps start industries. T-Series is a cassette/CD company started by a guy who ran a small shop and then branched onto remix cassettes - Now they are pretty big and I think would hate to lose business.

BTW, how long is the term of copyright in Pakistan? In India it is 60 years for movies - meaning that movies produced at the time of independence are losing copyright protection right now.

Dear Omar,
I there not only Pakistan is suffer of Copy write issue but other country country like India, USA also suffer.

Actually only artists (and their agents) of India, Pakistan, USA suffer. People of India enjoy access to cheap music !

Hey Mr. Omar now u r generalizing too much here....Bollywood produces over 1000 movies every year...each movie on an average has around 5 songs....that means 5000 songs a year by most conservative estimates....now even if u accuse bollywood of stealing around 10 Pakistani songs a year (highly improbable though!) it constitutes to just 0.2% of all bollywood songs in a year. Now if you take all the songs produced by bollywood since the sixties it will be humongous number....copied or stolen songs compared to this number will be a very tiny fraction of bollywood revenues.

Despite all this you want to malign Bollywood as a whole and Indians as a whole? You are a true 'Hypocrite' man...without doubt

Pakistani songs has made Indian directors, or those who claim the song is their's, rich while the original Pakistani song writer and Pakistani singer is left with no piece of the pie.

If you think that's fair then its not even worth talking to you.

Why can't you Indians open your eyes and see that stealing someone's hard work and claiming its your's is WRONG.

Now you have come to the real point 'Indian directors'. Till now you were blaming whole of Bollywood and my post was only to show you the reality.

As far as plagiarism goes, there s no justification for it. I really feel sorry for the Pakistani artists whose work is copied by some music directors.

But I would rather ask ur government to open its eyes and address the concerns of ur artists. There is nothing that an average Indian or GoI can do about it as Bollywood is a private industry with absolutely no government control.

As far as the unassuming public goes, we just watch Bollywood movies and enjoy them. We dont go to a theater with a perception that some parts of the movie may be copied from elsewhere.

I hope you understand the difference now.
