COAS Gen Bajwa intends to cut army strength of 5,38,000 substantially over next 5 years

. .
Comments on foreign policy or other States by military officials should be vetted by the foreign office. I am not sure if that was done here.

The language used by the COAS in his comments on Russia and Ukraine was not ideal in my opinion. They should have been confined to expressing concern over the conflict and an end to hostilities and emphasizing a commitment to the dispute resolution via the relevant international forums such as the UN Security Council and its resolutions on conflicts.
Bad habits die hard. And when it comes to the military, it's even harder 😜

flip side....i will be out of a job....really it scares me alot....if today my job is terminated, where will i go? Gives me nightmares.
Don't you worry. A determined PAK Army officer can never go jobless till his last day on this planet 😜.

may sound like a noob statement, but cant the army get in touch with industrialists, saiths and investors who can bankroll some purchases directly? you know, appeal to their sense of patriotism and nationalism? the army can also request them to pour money into RnD, for localization? but i know, that this plan is a stupid one.
😆😆😆 You are talking about those blood leaches goons. Those who threatened the Govt to shift their investments abroad if they were asked to increase the percentage of indigenization of the manufacturing plants they operate! There are programs like "shark tank" in most of the civilized world where the filthy rich businessmen invest and promote new ideas and start-ups. Even India has copied that stuff but where did you see that happening in Pakistan?? And now you are asking them to invest in country's defense! Are you serious! 🙈.

"but i know, that this plan is a stupid one." So you already knew that but even then Hmmm 🤔.

Indian Army is under massive modernization program where individual soldiers would have new better rifles, standard issue optics, NVGs and Thermal sights too. Now where we are headed now in comparison to that? A squad with better rifles, optics and perhaps access to Thermals would be far superior to the grunts carrying G3, Type 56 with limited optics and NVG supplies. That portrays a gloomy picture of our troops in the field in the coming years 😒

In my opinion, they are rather behind us. It's just that our modernizing hasn't been publicized yet. Especially in optics.

What about that lightweight DShK machine gun that POF markets?? Is that helpful in mountains and more modern??

. . .
In that case, would give me more time for write-ups....maybe some books as well....would miss the action though.

Sir, I've been working on this angle especially suggesting a reintegration effort for uniformed personnel because whenever retirement comes it is a process and that's how most modern militaries take it. Don't worry, sir, you shall enjoy it whenever it comes because it's an integral phase of the entire career.

At this stage, Pakistan needs force multipliers but with a strong force not the other way, Pakistan simply can't cut off numbers as you have a 5x Enemy on one side side, 2 somewhat hostile nations, and tons of Terrorists groups active in Afghan side & Irani side.
Yes you can bring modern tech and automate a lot of things but you will still need actual foot soldiers.

Better advanced monitoring of the Afghan & Irani border can be done with a lot fewer resources but you need better equipped QRF which are able to be deployed to remote regions in a very small time and actually pack a punch, but in Pakistan's case is neither simple or easy. Just because of the geographic location, current setup, and limited usage of Tech which I don't see being implemented in Pakistan in the next 5 years this fast. ( Simple reason how much Change have we seen in the Last 10 years in regards to foot soldiers, yes Pakistan has purchased some high priced key weapons but for foot soldiers not much has been changed neither have we seen any willingness to adopt modern protective measures to protect the jawans )

Since WOT started Pakistani State has done very little when it comes to building and supporting the private defense sector which can fulfill and provide reliable modern systems which are cheaper compared to Western standards especially things that can be deployed in large numbers e,g better-protected carriers, smaller drones, modern assault rifle, even with UCAV Pakistan has purchased very little of these are actively being used which just blows my mind. What is the point if a country is buying weapons and won't use them to protect its soldiers.
