Beautiful boats. Pakistan has a lot of experience in running Brit platforms. But do we have the money???

As a result of the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), the UK will be discommission four Type 22 Batch 3 frigates between January and April 2011. They might make a nice option for PN to acquire. Other potential takers - if any - are most likely South American navies e.g. Brazil, Chile. Additionally, maybe Eastern European countries e.g. bulgaria or Rumania (has two earlier batch ships already).

IF you have any info about how much they cost? Please do share more info about it.
PN should go for these rather then spending money on OHP.
I think one of the issues that China and Pakistan might face when thrashing out the Type 054A deal would be the sensor suit. A lot of things including some of the Radars are supplied by Russia.

Hi,
So, if and when pakistan get the 054--what is it facing? Thanks.
The average cost of a Type 22 is £150 million, on the current exchange rate that makes around 242 million dollars a ship. so for 4 ships you are talking a billion dollars(with helos).
Type 054A will also cost the same but in the same amount you can get 3 OHPs.
Technically Type 22 has more firepower than Type 054A's since they are bigger vessels. But the 054s has chinese advantage(financing...) but Type 22 will be more easily accommodated in PN fleet since our crew have years of experience in operating the older 21's whereas we are newer to chinese ships.
Personally I feel that we should go for Type 054A because it has all the latest technology, STEALTHY DESIGN, good firepower and of course if some issue arises chinese would always be there. Type 22 is all 80's technology with no stealth.
Dear All, I am still hesitant about the PN buying surface ships. These ships will not stand a chance against a bunch of Su-30MKIs launching a volley of Brahmos missiles. The PN should invest in subs, and strike planes tipped with nukes. That is the only way they can keep the IN at bay. These ships, Type 22 and/or Type 054A, will be sunk in the early onset of any hostilities. Take care.
150 million pounds is too much for such old ships.
Pakistan can easily get its own frigate/destroyer designed in China, with its own specs in that amount.
I think PN is looking to spend 1 billion $ max on 4 new frigates.
My bet would be on the Type054A. They are a formidable class of ships.
