Lets see what are the combat ships that are actually relevant from the above for a fight in IOR.
1 )Repainted casino which shut down during trials even in china sea.How about travelling all the way to IOR and doing sustained ops there.
2) 24 destroyers - 6 of them are obsolete 70s era ships with less displacement than our frigates. That leaves 19 good ships. This is the only formidable part of the PLAN.
3)The smaller ships corvettes, gunboats and missile boats etc don't have the range for such ops.
4)Among ur vaunted 69 submarines, you have only 5 relatively modern type 093 SSNs.Diesel subs are useless for operations in IOR.5 submarines -lol.
5)Out of 48 frigates,13 are old modified soviet riga class typ53 with pathetic 2000 ton displacement and insignificant armament. Its less displacement than our corvettes.
Another 14 are upgraded type 53H3 .These are only marginally better at 2400 ton displacement.Even our oldest frigates ,the brahmaputra class are 3900 tonnes not these pathetic glorified corvettes.
That leaves 24 modern frigates of the type 054A which are the only threat.
So 1 carrier,19 destroyers,5 submarines and 24 frigates -and this is assuming the chinese sail their entire modern navy into the IOR leaving their shores largely defenceless.Oh and you don't have enough replenishment vessels to supply all that simultaneously in long range thousands of miles away at sea atm without naval bases to refuel and redock in which u don't have and even if u secure one in pak/SL will be irrelevant in wartime because IN will fight u at the entrance of IOR around andaman making whatever bases u have further inwards irrelevant. But look at the bright side, after we annihilate the chinese task force..perhaps the battered remnants can go hide and take refuge there.
In contrast we can use our entire diesel electric submarine fleet plus our corvettes being close to our coasts.
Our 13 diesel subs plus 1 akula( not counting 6 scorpenes starting sea trials serially).
2 aircraft carriers.
10 destroyers.
15 frigates.
Our oldest frigates are 3900 tonnes and our newest ones are 6200 tonnes making them all but destroyers.
Plus all the corvettes and missile boats -25 odd.
Add to this our unsinkable carrier andaman and nicobar islands. When the chinese forces entering IOR are attacked by the indian surface fleet from above..mig-29ks and salvoes of brahmos and klubs.Add to that our diesel subs waiting in ambush at the chokepoints, exocets and klubs from underwater as well. Then Maritime aircaft such as poseidons and tu-142s with harpoons from above flying from south india. And above all wave after wave of sukhoi-30mkis with air launched brahmos firing in saturation mode operating from bases in south india and andaman...we will see how long a force lasts against such 3 dimensional non stop assault.
Meanwhile we will continue to sink chinese oil tankers from the gulf for fun as usual.
So you have spent many billion dollars building up ur navy,if u want it all down the drain in one go..by all means attack us in IOR.Or face reality that PLAN is an insignificant factor in IOR atm.IN is top dog in IOR,deal with it.Only USN have the power to dislodge us.
Couple of H-6K strategic bombers with each bomber armed with 7 KD-20 cruise missiles are more than enough to cripple the all the facilities in Andaman and Nicobar islands with standoff strikes assisted by Chinese electronic warfare units will give the death blow to these facilities.
Indian aircraft carriers are small and can carry only a few outdated Mig-29K fighters. Those carriers are sitting ducks for air assaults from JH-7A/B and J-16 strike fighters launching YJ-12 anti-ship missiles. Indian military will have to deal with China's drone fleet which can do a saturation attack using Yj-12 ASCM. Even if Indian surface ships manage to intercept 100% of the missiles (dream on if you think that will happen), Indian surface ships will be out of missiles which leaves the entire Indian navy naked for Chinese frigates and destroyers to sink them to the bottom of the South Asian Ocean. Even the older Chinese frigates and destroyers will prove more than a handful for the Indian military when they are combined with modern frigates and destroyers. Indian surface fleet is mostly consisted of outdated ships and their firepower is very limited especially their anti-air capabilities.
Type 052C has 48 VLS and Type 052D has 64 VLS. Once the Type 055 cruiser comes into service, it will be able to carry 128 VLS. China has 24 Type 054A frigates which has 32 VLS and China's frigates alone will be enough to take out the Indian surface fleet.
Chinese frigates, destroyers and submarines are being equipped with the YJ-18 and YJ-100 which are faster and has longer range than Brahmos.
Indian submarine fleet is old and noisy and don't stand a chance against Chinese nuclear submarine and conventional AIP submarines.
If Indian military miraculously manages to survive, China will unleash the DF-21D ASBM which is now in operation.
Liaoning is bigger than any of the existing Indian carriers and can carry more advanced J-15 fighters than Indian carriers.
Chinese cyber units and electronic units will wreck havoc inside India and cripple all the command and control centers.
But all this will be overkill to deal with a weak military such as India with mostly outdated equipment and very few numbers to withstand a full scale and multidimensional military assault from the PLA.
China is increasing its numbers at a rapid rate in fighters, frigates, destroyers, cruisers, submarines, etc.
As I said before, Indian military is outclassed, outnumbered and out trained in all areas which doesn't stand a chance in hell of beating the PLA.
A sub is small. An ocean is big. Trying to find a sub in an ocean is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Need at least 1,000 P-8Is to cover the entire ocean.
Those few P-8I will be one of the first to be taken out by the PLA.
