The China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), a Chinese government company, will set up its manufacturing unit in the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) and produce rolling stock for Nagpur Metro Rail, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today.

CRRC will make investment to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore to set up the manufacturing unit in MIHAN, which will generate employment opportunities for 5,000 people, he said here.

The Maharashtra government and the CRRC today signed an MoU for setting up a manufacturing facility in MIHAN. During the event, Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (NMRCL) also handed over a letter of intent to the Chinese company seeking the supply of the rolling stock.

“It is a happy occasion for Nagpur and the Nagpur Metro Rail that the Chinese company will be here to build and supply coaches,” Fadnavis said.

“A pre-condition was set before the Chinese company that they can supply coaches to the Nagpur Metro Rail, provided they manufacture them in MIHAN, which they agreed,” the Chief Minister said.

The MoU was signed by Maharashtra Development Commissioner (Industries) Vijay Singhal and CRRC DGM (Overseas Business) Sau Chuanayi for the manufacturing unit in MIHAN, whereas the NMRCL GM (Rolling Stock) Janak Garg and CRR Director International Business System for Asia and North America, Chain Chunting, signed a deal for the supply of coaches.

Union Minister for Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari was also present.

On the occasion, Fadnavis also announced that the NMRCL will be given the work of Pune Metro Rail.

“The state government has decided to entrust the responsibility of executing the Pune Mahametro Rail project to NMRCL. The demand in fact came from the people of Pune,” he said.

Work on the Nagpur Metro, which is on fast track, will be completed by 2018, he added.

Talking about Mumbai’s transport plans, Fadnavis said the state will introduce a common ticket for all the available modes of transport, including suburban railways, Metro Rail and Monorail, besides local bus services.
“One can travel from any place to anywhere and reach within one hour,” he said.

In a veiled attack on the previous governments, he said as a result of the planning in the last 60 years, only about 70 lakh people can use suburban rail services in Mumbai presently.

“But our government will enhance the capacity to 80 lakh, which we will do in just two years as against the previous 60 years of rule,” the Chief Minister said.

On the occasion, Gadkari complimented Nagpur Metro Rail for speedy work and described it as the “fastest growing” metro service in the country.

NMRCL Managing Director Brajesh Dixit said 69 coaches will be required for running the Metro on two routes in four directions.

“The coaches will have wide glass screens, unlike the underground Metro that has small glass windows,” he said.

Great. CRRC has built factory in Brazil, Africa, USA, Malaysia, etc, no reason not to have a factory in India. Good news for manufacturing in both countries.

Yes sir, this is a good development.. Hopefully chinese don't import their own engineers and workers as they do with their projects in other countries...:p::p:

unless you lot want to complete in 10 years what can be done in 3 years.:D

10 years? Try 30 years.

Chinese engineers work; Indian engineers talk, talk, and talk.

It was only 25 years ago that China was behind India economically. China has since pulled far ahead of India. India is now in the position of desperately needing Chinese investment and technology. India fell behind because Indians talk, talk, and talk while Chinese work, work, and work.

How can they do that without getting Indian Visas ? Its no so easy for a chinese to get even a Indian tourist visa, forget about work visa.

Forget about work progress too! :enjoy:

That is not my concern, the Govt. will implement the contract where the chinese company has given the project commitment and timelines along with penalties for delay in work.

So really , that is your problem. Not mine. Welcome to India. :enjoy:

Is it smart to have such arrogant attitude in this particular case? Indians are not known for work ethic and efficiency, so please be humble while receiving assistance from others, for the sack of your own country.

It is better that you learn to be humble when you have received a contract from India. China is not know for any kind of ethics and is especially notorious for fake goods and poor quality of work. So First delivery on that contract before opening your mouth.

If you fee so proud, don't come here begging for work. Thankfully other chinese do not feel the same way you do.

They have humbly approached us for a share of the work and they have won that contract in a honest bidding.

I believe whoever come to the table with a begging bowl should be more than humble since beggars don't choose:azn:

By the looks of it, its China who has come to India with a begging bowl, begging for large projects. :azn:

Talk to me when India is doing projects in china.

If china chooses to invest billion of $ in India, its only because you see the opportunity here and not in pakistan.

otherwise why don't you invest that money too in pakistan ?
