PAF Shaanxi ZDK-03 AEW&C Roll-out Ceremony Held in China

NOVEMBER 13, 2010 - According to Pakistan Television (PTV) news report, roll-out ceremony of first Shaanxi ZDK-03 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft designed specifically for Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was held in Hanzhong, Shaanxi, China today (November 13). The ceremony was attended by PAF Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman and other high ranking officers of PAF.

PAF has plans to induct a total of four Shaanxi ZDK-03 AEW&C aircraft in its inventory.

which one are we getting: ZDK-03 or KJ-200?

both are the same stuff.

ZDK-03: A variant designed specifically for export to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Consists of a Chinese AESA radar mounted on the Y-8F600 platform. The radar is reported to have a greater range than that of the PAF's Saab 2000 Erieye AEW&C radar. Delivery of the first aircraft to the Pakistan Air Force is expected by the end of 2010.

ZDK-3 is reported as export variant of KJ-200 specially modified for PAF.
however the news stated the induction of AWACS and no details were given. i am looking for more details but cannt find.
i hope all this excitment dont goes to waste..
it wasbeing aired on various channels!!

The main difference between the above picture and the one which w will get would be the platform on which the radar would be mounted.

Mostly probably, the AEW&C would be based on the Y-8F600 version, which is the latest from Chinese in collaboration with American & P&W & Ukrainian & even some British inputs for export models.

Thus, may be PAF gets the Y-8F600 model with P&W engines, avionics suite by Honeywell, propeller system of the British.

Or if we are looking for cost cutting measures, then an all Chinese version can be gotten also.

Y-8F600 is the model on which Chinese KJ-200 Balance Beam version is mounted.

Is the rotadome of the ZDK-03 the same as that on the KLJ-2000?

it cant be so,
ZDK-03 has always been reported as a variant of KJ-200 modified for PAF requirment. it is not something based on KJ-2000!
