Due to experience obtained in 2008 earthquake, this time the authorities were considerably more prepared and the people have greater disaster awareness. I don't think the death toll will exceed a thousand.

It is true, we get terrible earthquakes in Western China and terrible Typhoons on the Eastern coast.

However, I don't think it is the worst in the world. Haiti and Japan for example get it really bad.

RIP to the dead. These kind of disasters leave quite a shock in the minds of the affected for a long time. I am one of the victim/witness of the super cyclone in India (Orissa) in 1999. Never felt a earthquake which is more destructive and leaves greater trauma because of its suddenness and unpredictability.
