China proposes Inter-country Highway

If anyone have not looked into the detail it will enter Bangladesh from North east and leave Bangladesh and will go to west Bengal. So there will be no direct connectivity with Myanmar. Thats the main dark side of this proposal and the meaning of this proposal is to give transit to India indirectly. However this can be used as a starting point to make a direct land route connection with Myanmar which can eventually go up to South East Asia.

Why china ? Lets build india-BD myanmar - thailand...india is already building super highway to thailand via myanmar bangladesh can join if they wish, for china we can reopen the still well road.

This route seems great. In the future I hope for a route which will connect China-Nepal-Bhutan-India-Bangladesh. This can be more profitable for us.

The Himalayan terrain is very cold and is covered with deep 10m snow for six months a year. So, no way China-Nepal-Bhutan-India-BD route is feasible in a practical sense.

Contrary to what many here think, Myanmar is not exactly in a tearing hurry to connect to BD. The only reason why Myanmar would bother with this(on the BD, India side) is to get more connectivity to India. Same with any proposal to connect the road to other SE Asian countries.

I am skeptical about the authenticity of this report. Could be some disinfo in parts. BD has always objected to such a link which in fact amounts to granting transit to India. BD has pressed for a link entering from Gundum, Cox's Bazar and exiting from Benapol. In other words: Burma-BD-India; not Burma-India-BD-India.

connect it till singapore.china,pakistan,india,bd,myanmar,thailand,malaysia,singapore...new grandtank road. and this new route will be a great tranding route for bd. india can export more phensidyl and myanmar more yaba .these are the items they are desparately willing to export officialy or unofficialy now.
may be your country also want access in Kolkata port :undecided: anyway you will get access in BD port if you ask :)



i prefer more ..China-Pakistan-India-Bangladesh-Myanmar-Thailand connection :D

@arp2041 @Contrarian AND bare in mind that we would not have achieved the above- near complete annihilation of all insurgents- without the Myanmar government. As and when Aung San Suu Kyi takes power we must shift all our gears into treating them as an ally and coordinating with them. Let us remember who has been our ally.
@Hyperion Besides Hype wants to fish in the BOB..I say we should urge him to. Hype..I have a song waiting for you..no where near Nusrat Jee's level but its a gem IMO.

Just come out of your wet dream!!! Bangladesh is providing jobs to the Indians and thats why many Indians are here. Period. Just go and check Bangladesh is one of top 10 country from where India gets it's remittance. Bangladesh government is trying to remove all these beneficiary Indians as most of them are involved in illegal activities and they came here with tourist visas and stayed back here. Just look at your own country. If 30 million of our country man is there then just start counting time as a big chunk of your land is gonna be lost for their new home land. 3% of 3.3 million square km is around 100k square km. Not bad at all. But size of NE India is much larger then that. Keep that in mind. Assam is already almost muslim majority state with our people and west bengal and tripura is also following closely.

But, I thought 300 million all the muslims are from BD. I am relieved that it is only 50 million. You must kick them out as soon as possible, because they never send a dollar to their motherland whereas from other countries the remittance is above $10 billion. So, why they must stay in India?

Enough of bickering. The Chinese proposal only attests to the truth that for a future expansion of trade towards east and north, India will be begging to BD for transit.

I think your govt gave us the transit, dint it?
