China proposes Inter-country Highway

We are already connecting to Myanmar from the port city of Sittwe which is a Japan-led initiative to connect Vietnam through Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and then by BoB to us. But that's a different project.

BTW, the roads will start from the NE states completely and enter into Myanmar.

Further transportation can be taken with my state becoming a transfer hub of cargo and trading goods, to spread out to the rest of the country.

It is one of the main reason why they're making an airport in Pakyong here, mate.

So, in order to make this Bombay-Sittwe-Vietnam connection viable Indians should practice swimming log distance. Good luck to unlucky self-declared supra poor India who is denied access to ASEAN by a tiny BD. BD has become very cruel to India!!!!

First of all, there is no Mumbai port involved. It will be Vishakhapatnam or Kolkata. Eastern Indian ports are the plans.

And why long distance? Heard of Vishakhapatnam port? One of the largest port cities in India which is pretty close to Burma.

What a sad attempt to troll.. lame. :coffee:

So, do not come to BD to ask for connection with NE. If you have so successfully connected with Burma, go to NE through that country. It is very logical.

The China initiative is different which is proposed by Chinese government.

I was referring to the other Japan-led initiative to connect India via Burma, Thailand and Laos so that Japanese can put their goods in Vietnam and land transport it till Myanmar from where it enters India via shipping.

So, how many centuries India will take to connect through Burma, Thailand and Laos?

China propose inter-country highway is between China-Myanmar-BD... we include India just lip-service only, because this country is so paranoid about China's present in SA, they're already upset with so call string pearl, if we dont include them in this highway affaire, they will invent another chinese's IRON CHAIN.

Can you confirm the route.
1. China-myanmar-india-BD-india
or
2. China-myanmar-BD-india

If the route is the 1st one. Then its just another loss project for us. Like the ASEAN route they
proposed us. They have only intension here is to get a free transit. Thats why they are
behind our tail on every prospect.

I can't really confirm anything, there is several factors to be considered on this SA silk road corridor:

-Terrain: how feasible in term of finance and techinical challenge.
-Cities: which nods (cities) are these countries want to revitalized in term of econmy
-Political senstivity: We all know that India is so afraid that China will use it as invasion road especially their NE.

The trajects will depend of the negociation amount these countries and will dictate which countries to be in connection first but personally, I agree with "Cirr" China-Myanmar-Bd is OK, India wtf.

Just come out of your wet dream!!! Bangladesh is providing jobs to the Indians and thats why many Indians are here. Period. Just go and check Bangladesh is one of top 10 country from where India gets it's remittance. Bangladesh government is trying to remove all these beneficiary Indians as most of them are involved in illegal activities and they came here with tourist visas and stayed back here. Just look at your own country. If 30 million of our country man is there then just start counting time as a big chunk of your land is gonna be lost for their new home land. 3% of 3.3 million square km is around 100k square km. Not bad at all. But size of NE India is much larger then that. Keep that in mind. Assam is already almost muslim majority state with our people and west bengal and tripura is also following closely.

Why are u making religious rants in Inter Highway related thread? :what:

This route seems great. In the future I hope for a route which will connect China-Nepal-Bhutan-India-Bangladesh. This can be more profitable for us.

Spot on....If China really need access then they can access BD and its port and connect Tibet through Nepal, India and BD ports or some eastern Indian ports from Odisha which is not crowded like Kolkotta port....Anyway...connectivity of any form is good...It is a different issue if you would like to link India or not....

Apart from trolling aside, can any one provide the financial impact or if there is analysis is done by China think tank about this project...Again, rather than wasting time if India needs to be included or not, for your convenience, assume India is not connected and provide a financial aspect of this project.

It is way too early to tell at this point.

I can see following points of interest from China about the proposed high way:

1- Provide access to China through BD ports and GOV to get a port facility in BD
2- Mynamar,BD,Nepal and Bhutan ( I am keeping India out of the discussion some time, as people spend more time trolling about us rather than analyzing the benefits and what could be negotiated from each nations to optimize the deal) and popuous nation with a good amount of base to get cheap labour base....It might happen that China can think of outsourcing its Manufacturing industries.

Apart from that if there is any other possibility, then some on case list it out.

BD's trade with China will cross 10 billion dollar by the time this highway comes into effect which itself will make the project financially very viable.

Insecure Bangladeshis *facepalm*

Myanmar is not interested in direct connectivity with Bangladesh via Cox's Bazaar. So any highway connecting Bangladesh and China will be going through Indian territory anyways.

Regarding the cooperation in road transportation sector, Myanmar is working close together with all out efforts.

• From Bangladesh, vehicles can enter Myanmar via 1) Moreh in Northeast India to Tamu in Sagaing Division, or 2) via Yeit in Chinn State. At the moment, the route via Tamu is the most convenient and suitable vehicular transportation route for Bangladesh and India to connect to China and ASEAN countries.

• Via Tamu, using Trilateral Highway connecting India, Myanmar and Thailand, TamuKalay-Kalaywa-Yagyi-Chaungma-Lingadaw-Pakokku-Nyaungoo -Kyautpadaung-YangonMandalay Highway (at Meiktila junction) − Yangon-Mandalay Highway (at Bawnatkyi junction) − Phayagyi − Thaton − Hpa-an Myawaddy, from Tamu, vehicles can travel to inland Myanmar, Thailand and ASEAN countries. The route from Tamu to Kalaywa is the 18 ft wide Asphalt road built with the India's support. The plan is underway with the assistance from India to upgrade the road from Kalaywa to Yagyi as an all-seasons road.

• If the entry is from Yeit in Chinn State, it will be via Yeit-Tetain-Kalay route to reach Kalay, the city on the path of India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway. There has been also a proposal to upgrade that route with the support from India.

• Both routes via Tamu and Yeit will connect to the northeast India and they will greatly contribute to accelerating the development of that region.

• The direct route with Bangladesh is through Taungpyo-Maungtaw-Bootheetaung-Kyautaw
road, connecting to Cox's Bazaar in Southern Bangladesh. Using Ah n-Sittwe road from
Kyautaw, it will connect to Kyautpadaung on Trilateral Highway, via Ah n-Minbu MagwayYenangyaung-Kyautpadaung road. The Maungtaw Bootheetaung section of the road is currently 12-ft wide asphalt road and the Bootheetaung-Kyautaw segment is still an unpaved road.

Any highway connectivity will involve the existing roads. And if you guys are thinking China will build a dedicated 6 laned expressway just to connect Dhaka to Kunming then I can just :omghaha:
