China proposes Inter-country Highway

.
OR, we should build upto BD and then say that we don't want India in. Ultimate troll :D
Dude, trolling Indians may not be the wisest of moves. You have to remember what Chanakya did to the poor Nanda empire. :fie:
Even our Chinese brothers might not be able to withstand the wrath of the modern day Chanakyans. Better we dont try to deceive them if we dont want to get screwed.

.
i would prefer Russia-China-Nepal-Bhutan-India-Bangladesh in this connection :D

Y not a EU-Russia-China-Nepal-Bhutan-India-Bagladesh-Myanmar-Thailand-Malaysia... karna hi hai tho purri duniya ko connect kar denge..

Lets construct a bridge at strait of Gibraltar and bring Africa into this connection also..:victory:

1. Please don't take it as religious rant. India is a Hindu nation. The Hindu feels he has become free after remaining subjugated for millenniums. Therefore, he is defensive and over calculative. This Hindu psychology needs to be understood. We criticize India for erecting border fence. Actually the Hindu has boxed himself in to feel secure.

2. I draw attention to those in SA military. Remember the phrase in the attestation / affirmation / oath when joining service which says, "I shall go wherever ordered to by land, air or sea." The British had to include this in the "qasam" because the Hindu society till very recently forbade foreign travel or crossing the seven seas.

3. India will never accept such opening or linkage for psychological reasons as well as for her strategic concerns. The Siliguri Corridor is the most militarized piece of real estate in the world. Commander Eastern Command and Commander IMTAT, Bhutan spend sleepless nights fearing a Chinese push down the Himalaya to link up with columns of BA MBT-2000s. No, India ill never ever accept any linkage among her neighbors all of whom dislike her.

4. All need to wait for China to liberate S Tibet. Road and rail communications, power lines, and oil and gas pipe lines will follow automatically. Water sharing will be fair and benefit all peoples.

I think we should accept this proposal with open arms. With a minor provisions like China can build the road but the Indian connectivity side of the road should be build by BD ,preferably by our LGED.AL infested corrupt LGED+4months of monsoon=no road at all.:omghaha:

None of it is going to materialize during Hindutva extremist BAL's terror reign.

China can propose all it want, we need to take into consideration our own benefits and losses.

Our primary threat will always remain the hub of Hindutva terror, whether it ruffles some feather in this Western leaning forum or not.

Myanmar's junta has been getting a little too uppity recently.

To sort this out, we will have to strengthen people to people bonds with Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand at the grassroots level. Politicians are way too shortsighted, incompetent, corrupt, and fickle to make any sound, multipronged, sustainable plans to subdue our "eternal enemies".

Proactive relations with the larger and high-potential Muslim majority countries are in order.

To our East, these countries are Indonesia and Malaysia (in no particular order).

To our West, these countries are Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar (maybe Iraq too) and Maldives for its strategic location. Maldives is a special case. We need to offer it land for reclamation, and provide naval protection by beefing up our naval and maritime forces.

The gist of this argument is that we can not rely only on China, because it can sell Bangladesh off whenever it thinks its 'interests' would be best served.

We MUST have other aces up our sleeves. Proactive relations with powerful and high-potential Muslim majority countries, and neutral to warm relations with the West is the optimized 'envelope' for foreign relations of BD.

I like the proposal. We need connect ourselves with china. Extension of the road to Calcutta I am not too bothered about. We should welcome it and support it part of our look east policy.

Dhaka: Dhaka has given its consent to a proposal of China for the construction of a transnational highway connecting the Indian state of West Bengal and the southwestern Chinese city of Kunmin through Myanmar and Bangladesh, a minister said here Wednesday.
Bangladeshi Communications Minister Obaidul Quader made the announcement after meeting Chinese Vice Minister for Communications Feng Zhenglin who arrived in Dhaka Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
He said, "We've given our consent to the Chinese government's proposal for constructing a highway to connect the West Bengal of India with Kunming through Myanmar and Bangladesh."
The minister did not elaborate on the proposal.
Visiting Chinese Vice-Minister for Transport Feng Zhenglin on Wednesday proposed that China is keen to construct a trans-border highway among Bangladesh, Myanmar, China and India for boosting up the regional trade.
The Chine Vice Minister made the proposal while holding a meeting with Communication minister Obaidul Quader at secretariat here today.
The Chine minister, who led a 15-member high level Chinese delegation, said the highway will connect Bangladesh directly with Kunming province of China.
Quader welcomed the Chinese proposal and observed that a feasibility study is required prior to take the project. "We should check whether the proposed highway would overlap with the approved Asian Highway," he said.
The minister urged the Chinese delegation to provide support to Bangladesh government in constructing an elevated expressway from Uttara to Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DPEZ) via Ashulia.
Quader expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for constructing the 7th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge on the Arial Kha River in Madiripur district.
He also requested to submit the feasibility study on Karnaphuli Channel that was conducted with assistance of Chinese government.
The Chinese delegation apprised the minister that the Chinese authority will submit the report of Karnaphuli channel by this month.
The Chine Vice-Minister assured Quader that his government would continue its support for helping Bangladesh government in infrastructural development.
Bridge Division secretary Anwarul Islam and Roads and Highway Division Secretary Man Sidiique were also present in the meeting.
