China needs 'three aircraft carriers': General

Why would we need them now? Plans for future are already there. There are around 4-5 new destroyers being constructed right now(Kolkata Class) as well as fast Missile boats and Frigates. Missile systems are already in place with a combination of Bramhos, Barack and the russian mix of missiles. Not to mention the subs that are being inducted as well as talks to get amphibious ships and additional frigates of foreign make. These will be inducted well before the aircraft carriers.

Kolkata with Barack missile is a point defence system. India desperate need a Aegis class destroy with area defense capability to protect its carrier fleet against a modern adversary.

Already Planned. 4 Destroyers - Project 15B. Extra features from 3 Kolkatta destroyers are:

The Project 15B will be armed with the Nirbhay cruise missile of 1,000 km range, the hypersonic Brahmos-II cruise missile and Extended Range Surface to Air Missile (ER-SAM) with a range of 100 km.Project 15 B differs from Project 15 A (Kolkatta) because of the “flush deck.” Flush Deck enable stealth as its smooth with less angles and corners. The displacement of each Project 15 B will be 7000 tonnes. except weaponry, which will be imported, the ship will be totally indigenous. It is also expected to carry Nirbhay and Brahmos – II cruise missiles. In addition It may feature Barak -II for Air defence. As with most Indian design, the ship will operate two helicopters.

Indian Navy is already 2nd strongest in the world after U.S., It will maintain it's 2nd position in future due to 100's of New additions like 4 Nuclear Submarine, 7 Destroyers, 3 Aircraft carriers, 10 Submarine, 11 Frigates, 12 Corvettes, etc.

India 2nd strongest? I bet the French, Russian and even the Japanese or Chinese fleet can beat it. You are comparing to country that has operated aegis level warship and advance submarines for years which capability India is just about to had. that is unrealistic isn't it...

thats debatable India lacks a dedicated helicopter carrier/amphibious warship vessels that other navies like U.S Britain and France operate we will have nuclear submarines soon but right now do not have 1, our submarines are outdated and need to be replaced by newer ones

we are not number 2 but are in the top 5 for sure

we operate several advanced surface combatants and have experience operating aircraft carriers since the 60's China still does not have a aircraft carrier or the good amount of experience India has with them, our Kilo class submarines are pretty advanced seeing how they are some of the most quiet subs in the world

China does not have the same amount of experience to operate the carrier as India, but China does have far more experience to build the carrier than India.

dont worry, Russian Navy and Japanese Navy also claim to be 2nd in the world... hehe

When Indian Navy can sail in South China Sea, and Chinese Navy cannot sail in Indian Ocean, then I'll admit Indian Navy is 2nd strongest.

Laughable comparison. Comparing China sea with Indian Ocean ?? hmm. Check the Map. Indian Ocean is huge and most important route for 100 of countries. China sea is small. Not comparable. Mainly few few countries there like China, Vietnam, and so on. All countries uses Indian Ocean for trading shipment. We also use China sea while reaching/crossing there. How many times you stopped ?? I don't remember once. Stop once we will also do the same. Try!

and don't compare a sea with Ocean. Even few days back, Our Navy personnel went there to give training to Vietnam, if you are aware.

Don't compare a sea with Ocean. By the way, We use china sea many times. Even few days back, Our Navy personnel went there to give training to Vietnam, if you are aware.

The premier naval power in the Indian Ocean is the US Navy. That's it. End of discussion.

Who is the premier naval power in the South China Sea?

India was blessed with advantageous geography. Yet it still cannot even blink without the permission of the white man.

You say India is the 2nd strongest navy. Wait until the nuclear submarines are in the water until you say that, you're shameless. Indian Navy is not even at the level of the Chinese navy in 1974 when our first nuclear sub went into the water.

India is buying conventional subs. It cannot make even 1. How dare you say that India is 2nd strongest when you rely on foreign suppliers.

I don't get why people are comparing the navies. It is next to impossible to compare or rank them. India relies on conventional subs while Chinese have nuclear ones. Chinese lack an aircraft carrier while IN has one (despite it's antiqueness does provide strategic options). Chinese have more destroyers, but are much older than Indian ones.Indian missile systems are supposed to be more advanced. Like below_freezing says, both will turn tail if faced with the USN Task force stationed in the Indian Ocean. It doesn't matter if you are 2nd,3rd,10th or a zillionth. Neither navy has significant teeth to act beyond the level of a regional navy.

Our destroyers are not old, they are mostly equipped the Chinese equivalence of the Aegis combat system.

Whereas Indian navy right now still relies on a 50 years old British carrier.

Not True. They have a single base since very long. We have many large bases in IO. IN and US navy has better coordination. We never had any any issue. Never heard any. Why you comparing China sea with Indian Ocean? Indian Ocean is very big much bigger than India also. Most of the country uses IO due to business shipping on daily basis. China sea is not as important compare with IO. You are comparing Asia with Australia.

Who is the premier naval power in the South China Sea?
Who is Premier naval power in Arabian Sea and bay of Bengal ?

India was blessed with advantageous geography. Yet it still cannot even blink without the permission of the white man.

Launch a BM and you will know the answer in no time. Who Blinks 1st. As usual, Chinese are known for only talking and no actions. If you have any Guts attack India and you will get the answer. You did when we were weak. Not any more.

Yes, It will be next year. you'are shameless with 0 knowledge. Submarine ? We have many Submarines. India is making 4 Nuclear BM Submarines on own. 1st will be placed in next 2 years. We are using Air Craft carrier since 24 years and you don't have a single one.

Chinese navy in 1974 when our first nuclear sub went into the water.

We are using Aircraft carrier for last 24 years and you still don't have a single one.

Yes, we are buying. Doesn't matter in War. What matter Quality and Quantity. Also most of these, we are making Aircraft carrier, Nucleur Submarine, Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes everything on own. We will add some 100+ Warships in next 15 years worth 100 billion $ on own.

Ships of the Indian Navy

Check - More than 50% are made by us only. In Future, it will be 75%. Our Economy was not strong 15-20 years back, that's why we were slow earlier. Not any more.
