What's new

China must stop its poor-country pretence

Those axxhole western countries have polluted the world till this stage and now they accused China for the problem.

Well, China has done so much to improve her effort to curb pollution and adapt new technology to do so. How about U.S.??? Does it sign kyoto treaty??? What is U.S. consensus on global warming issue/problem?

How about other western countries???

For those who have advanced technology to curb pollution, they do not even want to share with China to do so. They either refuse to sell or sell at such a high price making it wide use not realizable. China has worked a lot and adopt clean energy plan on such a wide scale nationally. We have gone a great step.

At the same time, those western countries??? Many of you have just bitched back and forth without doing any significant work.

Your living standard is measured by gdp??? Are you nuts??? Each citizen has his/her cost, e.g. medical, living, schooling, food, transportation... don't you know it need multiplication???

As far as I know USA the biggest emitter before during and future have not sign the Kyoto Protocol. Canada is backing out too!

for started... china is responsible for like 10% of total emissions in history... usa is 29%.... australia is 1%...

so you think because australia is a western country we are more responsible then china?? you have even polluted more in total over history then britain and france combined... and they are more responsible then china?? come on man get with reality

the usa is the most responsible this is true.. but china and russia have responsibility over every other country except the usa...

australia is reponsible too.. but we invest a hell of a lot of money also, not to mention all the kickbacks and funding we give all the poorer countries...

each citizen has his/her cost etc...

yep and your government holds back a lot of wealth that could be distributed also amongst you also.

No wonder in western countries, except a few, most of them really sucks at math.

As what I have said, how about you add another 2700 years??? Go on!

2700 years etc.. what does it mean?? nothing... you can trace america and australia etc back to their origins and include that also.. the statistics still do not change one iota...

I think China has taken very bold steps to sign the agreement on curbing CO2 emissions in the lastest round of very heated debate in Doha or Copenhagen. You have omitted UK, Spain, France. Germany, Italy, Japan big time!

have you even researched this?? china is currently the biggest emitter ... china emit close to 1/4 of the world total per year... america emit less then you now...

your right they didnt sign the protocal..

australia did?

and you can talk about kyoto protocal.. but really your treading dangerous water... because china.. like india... has signed sure...but are using exceptions to the treaty and they believe parts of the treaty do not apply to them and they will not follow those parts

Are you stupid or what???

Even China so-called 2nd largest GDP evenly divided among her citizen, we are still around that 91 in that list.

As for starter, where the heck do you get the 10% for China??? out of your dumb brain???

2700 years, you do not understand? Australia has roughly 300 years development and China has roughly 3000 year development, the difference is 2700 years.

After you develop for another 2700 years, you won't be this dumb to be surprise that China has more population!!!

how about you look it up on relevant websites to do with global emissions and you will see the fact china has the highest emission rate right now, and in total has emitted at the least 10% of all emissions

in regards to population.. or as u r trying to say .. development.... aboriginals in australia have 60'000 years proven history here and barely reached 1 million population.... eurupe as a WHOLE has just as long a history as china and does not even have 800 million population.. and that includes all the immigrants from elsewhere... your arguement is total hogwash lol

the author is a joke. China does want to increase its share in IMF or the World Bank a lot bigger than present but are these requests met? China does want to participate more in rescuing the troubled EU. One of the pre-conditions is EU must recognise China's status as market economy. China does want to invest and create employments in Europe/USA but many projects such as telecommunications were turned down based on national security reasons. China does want to narrow the trade imbalances but Europe/US refuse to relax their hi-tech embargoes on China. China did take up the leadership role rallying all the developing and under-developed countries to fight against unfair and stringent rules of carbon emissions that would have otherwise imposed on them by the developed nations during the many rounds of Kyoto Protocol negotiations. China does take the lead investing in Africa but the actions are demonised, badly twisted into diatribes and irresponsible reporting.

Agreed, the author is a liar.

They want us to take the risks of leadership alone. We help Africa, they twist it around. We help Europe, they twist it around. OK, we walk away, they cry about it. Lol we can't help, we can't go away, we can only donate to them.

We want to narrow the trade gap by decreasing rare earth exports, they cry. Then they cry about the trade gap, lmao.

In reality there is two China. There is the coastal areas which are well developed. Shanghai and Beijing in particular are approaching medium income developed countries. On the other hand, there are provinces still extremely poor, such as Guizhou, Yunnan, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxa Xinjiang and Tibet.

I think in the next 15 years, it's best to use wealth that we've gathered in the past 20 years to build infrastructure in undeveloped provinces. We can then move our labour intensive manufacturing there while upgrade to design/service in developed areas.

World Bank ranks China as a medium income country....

After Tianamen Square massacre several Chinese students swore that the poor economic development of the interior was deliberate Party policy: the Party wanted "stupid, reliable soldiers from Shanxi [or was it Jianxi?] province" available so protesters could be crushed if necessary; developing interior provinces would mean that capable soldier material from such areas would turn to more profitable pursuits.

There are people that swore 911 attack was an inside job by U.S. government, moon landing was fake and Kennedy was assasinated by military industrial complex.

Nevertheless the students seem to have had a point as economic liberalisation was permitted the coastal provinces first and the interior later or not at all, yes?

I think there are more valid points in conspiracy theories regarding 911, moon landing and JFK. Going by that logic, I guess U.S. is keeping the Midwest purposely poor too, seeing the coasts are richer. Could it be that coastal areas are more accessible to trade?

Correct. Japan has already accumulated their rare earth deposist for 20-30 years consumptions. They bought the minerals at dirt cheap prices. US and Australia have their rare earth deposits but they want to keep them as strategic reserves. We hold the earths 35% reserves but we have been supplying over 90% of the demand over the decades.

I don't think the argument about the "deliberate party policy" in western China can stand. It all relates to uneven resources of the western vs the eastern part of China, and the long transportation routes, the adverse climate and better human resources that all together make investment along the coastal provinces more attractive.

Agreed. Conspiracy theories here are all BS!
