Chinese culture and tradition is not only Confucianism. I do not believe that Chinese culture and tradition is lost in mainland China. As long as the the Chinese language is taught and used in China, the culture will lived on. The Chinese language in its various form is the no. 1 carrier of the China culture. It is always the common of all Han people even though Han Chinese has always has a vast plethora of diversity among them. It is a very historical language that pass down the thousand years old wisdom of our ancestor. The superficial political ideology, custom and fashion and even behavior might change from time to time and differ from place to place, but the truly Chinese of ideas and views will lived on through the Chinese language.
In the past century, Chinese was being delivered a rude awakening by western superiority of technology and philosophy. We went through a phase of denial. First we deny the fact that it is true and when that does not work, we went through a phase of self-denial of our root and culture. That is not unique to communist China. The KMT did the same. After that we went on to search for an alternative to our traditional culture and engage in immense social-political experiment that often end in disaster. It is only now, after all those trials and tribulations that we realize that we cannot denial what we are. Our culture lived in our blood. That is true for Chinese all over, be they in mainland China or not.
Let bygones be bygones. They are just another rite of passage among many in our long history.

Local Chinese here also look towards Hong Kong and Taiwan for inspiration like their singers and movies stars. Like Jasmine (fish) Leong. She was borned in Negri Sembilan and went to Taiwan to pursue her singing career and now a famous star in the Mainland.
We have always fiercely defended our Chinese schools. Our few Chinese schools are very disciplined and we have very dedicated teachers and are strongly supported and funded by the local Chinese Businesses. That fact is even recognized by the Malays themselves as the Malay struggles with their many teenager adolescence problems like drop outs, crimes and drugs. In fact there are about 60,000 non Chinese studying in our overcrowded Chinese school. However we cannot built additional Schools without Government approval.

Yes, there are always problems between ethnics groups living closely together EVERYWHERE in the world. We manages our problem without having to scream to outside forces for help. We are South East Asia largest producer of Pork, the highest consumption of alcohol and we have the largest casino in SEA. A visitor from China once told me Kuala Lumpur sounds and feels like GuangZhou.
Even you cannot deny the contributions of these overseas Chinese. See what happen to your economy when you drove out the ethnic Chinese after winning the Vietnam war ? Now you want to welcome them back !

In Malaysia, non-Muslim are not under the Sharia laws. Sharia laws are only for Muslim. Non-Muslim can pretty much do what they want. That is why I mention the pork production, the alcohol consumption and the gambling. Example Malay are not allow into the Genting Highland casino. If a Muslim girl is caught with a non-Muslim Chinese guy together, only the Muslim girl is punished under Sharia.

1. Many Mainland Chinese enjoy extreme left Maoism, some Mainland members here are example.

2. Malaysian Chinese like Chinese cultures, but not Marxism and Leninism. Malaysian look like Taiwanese rather than Mainlanders.

Definitely, less Malaysian Chinese (mostly Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka, Hokkien (Fujianese)) have intermarriage with Malay. Even though Malaysian Indian (mostly Tamil) do so.
