Mongolia to enhance defense cooperation with India

English_Xinhua 2009-03-20 15:17:42 Print

ULAN BATOR, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's Deputy Prime Minister Miyeegombo Enkhbold said on Thursday when meeting with visiting Indian military delegation that Mongolia hoped to enhance defense cooperation with India, according to his office on Friday.

Stressing ties with India are important in Mongolia's foreign policies and security policies, Enkhbold said Mongolia hoped that the two countries would enhance cooperation on military information and that India would support Mongolia's participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

He also said Mongolia would support India in its bid for permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

Mongolia and India signed agreements on defense cooperation in 2001.

It been very well known that India has a listening post in Mongolia, where India keep track of the chinese and of course the base in tajikistan. The next phase is ofcourse the military base in Mongolia:

A boom in cooperation between India and Mongolia in defense is in the making as Indian top Ministers visit Mongolian defense infrastructure.

The Indian delegates headed by the minister [of state] of defence of India, M.M. Pallam Raju, are paying an official visit to Mongolia on 3-6 May. They are guests of the minister of defence of Mongolia, Mr M. Sonompil.

On Thursday [4 May], Mr Sonompil received the Indian delegates to talk on expansion of a cooperation in the defence sectors between the two countries, and to sign a cooperation agreement.

The visiting delegates were also received by the minister of foreign affairs, Mr N. Enhbold, and then visited the Mongol Soldiers'' Museum.

India already operates an air base in another Central Asian country - Tajikistan

Another key sentence in this article:

Enkhbold said Mongolia hoped that the two countries would enhance cooperation on military information and that India would support Mongolia's participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

Where India is been training the mongolian anti-terrorist army personal in jungles of Mizoram.

I don’t see why China will be unhappy with that: China probably will happily see Indian militarism hands to extend long enough to chop them off.

In addition Mongolians can’t live without depending on China for its economy. It can surely live without India.

(in 2006) Mongolia's largest trading partner is China. As of 2006, 68.4% of Mongolia's exports went to China, and China supplied 29.8% of Mongolia's imports.

Japan's largest trading partner is now China i believe, that doesnt stop them from building up their military and being hostile to China now does it!

Collaboration with Mongolia..wooohhh...
Imitating another superpower can't qualify someone to be as such!

. .
Actually, this is quite good.If India keeps circling China then China will start arming up Pakistan and try to circle India.

Mongolia might seem petty, but what is more important is strategic point of openning foreign bases and defense collaboration

China cant possibly arm Pakistan more. And believe me both countries are trying to do that for a while now. China started much earlier though. Kudos for brilliance.

First I cant make a word out of what you just said, except for the first sentence.

This is not the first time India has sought to expand its military presence outside India. India has a airbase in Tajakistan, and also has a greater incline towards seeking agreement. I think its a great move to cooperate with Mongolia, atleast would give Chinese something to worry about from the north as well.

The aim is to create a "ring of fire" around Pakistan/China. Which is evident from the fact that just last year, India upgraded its airbase in Leh from mere "support recieving oriented" to " active air defence". It will be housing Indias finest fighters. And all this is just 0.1% of what "building border infrastucture" is about. This is not it. India has been ramping up cooperation from nuclear material supplies to military and energy cooperation withcountries like Arzbegistan, Uzbegistan and would also be "upgrading" their militaries.

malay there is not much use in arming anyone to which india cannot maintain a supply route. remember russia-vietnam-china.

india doesnt really have to arm anyone. remember only someone else will be ready to bleed for you if they feel you yourself are aggressive enough to take on that person who they are bleeding against if need be(even initiating an action).

as long as there is a clear and demonstrated assertion by india to move north if china moves east, that is more than enough to complete the encirclement that US has on china. we dont need to create a new rope.just tie the last knot on the earlier existing strong one that is created by a bigger bully than china. Resources must be used wisely not wasted. If India itself is hesitant to move north, then no one will be ready to bleed for India.

china for long has tried to bleed india via pakistan(who is more than happy to do it for free anyways). Unless it is demonstrated clearly that the loss for china for doing such action is greater than the benefits then they will continue to play that game. This is common sense and nothing to do with grand strategy.

For this an Indian army must be ready to march north without necessarily being attacked first but even if China goes east. Bottomline The question is does Indian establishment have the gall to do that and more importantly is preparing for that?

Rest everything else is pointless imho.

Ya right!
Keeping starving your people and keep up the guud work of expanding your military.

What exactly is the complex that you people face..???
Trying to become a Sub-Continental Super Power...!!!

Hmmm...ya Mongolia would was the best option available and with this standard of partnership, Nepal and Bhutan would be tindia's next allies ...

^^You guys don't have any argument other than starving people. How making an military base in Mongolia will starve people?. A lot of money is already being spent on the poverty eradication, one cannot spend everything on just poverty elimination. Security is also important.

Yes security is also important, but acting like a policeman is NOT important.

Why don't you become guud boys so that there is no need for you to run all around in order to save your back?
