China confronts Indian navy vessel

i don't think it matters, man :pop:indian media will come up with other propaganda a few days later

I don't know how much you appreciate the freedom of press in INDIA but one thing is assured that we have many independent thinkers and Highly educated people in print media who are least influenced by propaganda.

U have to read their editorials to appreciate them. One of them is TheHindu

So, even if many newspapers spread propaganda, we have several sources to debunk them as well.

I have serious doubts on the credibility of this article. It does not mention the exact location in south china sea. for e.g., if this incident took place in the northern SCS then PLAN was well within its rights to question the intensions of INS Airavat but if the incident took place in southern SCS then they were not. also, why was INS Airavat alone in those waters the IN should have sent at least a frigate to escort Airavat.
but one thing is sure at least PLAN acted in a very professional way if the same incident had taken place in Arabian sea, then our western neighbours would have acted very unprofessionally, as we all remember the PNS Babur incident

A Chinese warship confronted an Indian navy vessel shortly after it left Vietnamese waters in late July in the first such reported encounter between the two countries’ navies in the South China Sea.
The unidentified Chinese warship demanded that India’s INS Airavat, an amphibious assault vessel, identify itself and explain its presence in international waters shortly after it completed a scheduled port call in Vietnam, five people familiar with the incident told the Financial Times.

This latest example of China’s naval assertiveness has irked defence officials in India and Vietnam. China claims the South China Sea in its entirety, rejecting partial claims by Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan over the resource-rich region.

“Any navy in the world has full freedom to transit through these waters or high seas,” said one Indian official familiar with the encounter. “For any country to proclaim ownership or question the right to passage by any other nation is unacceptable.”

Vietnam’s foreign ministry acknowledged that the INS Airavat visited the country from July 19-22, but said it had no information about the incident. The Chinese defence and foreign ministries declined comment, as did the Indian government.

China’s projection of maritime power, especially into the Indian Ocean, has raised national security concerns in New Delhi, which has raised the incident with Beijing.

Hanoi is also upset by what it believes to be a deliberate provocation by Beijing, according to foreign diplomats, who said the implication of the naval challenge was that China believes it is entitled to police the South China Sea.

China and Vietnam have been trying to mend fences ever since Hanoi claimed in May that Chinese patrol boats had sabotaged Vietnamese oil exploration vessels. On Monday Vietnam’s deputy defence minister, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, concluded a high-profile visit to Beijing, where he met General Liang Guanglie, China’s defence minister. Both sides agreed to increase military co-operation and set up a military hotline.

An unprecedented series of anti-China protests broke out in Hanoi in June, with the clear acquiescence of Vietnam’s omnipresent security officials. The government only recently cracked down on the demonstrations.

“Vietnam has to find a delicate balance in raising its concerns over territorial issues while not pushing China too far,” said one Asian diplomat.

Rising tensions have also attracted the attention of Washington. Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, angered Beijing last year by insisting that the South China Sea was of strategic importance to the US and offering to act as a mediator.

Well, one could also ask the Chinese ship as to what it was doing out there.

It appears that the Chinese feel that they own international waters!!

Baap ke raj!!

China is a true Super Power now, they have the confidence and the juice :china:

Did they show the juice when the US Navy did joint naval exercises with the Philippines Navy and then with the Vietnamese Nacy?

If Indian media was of the Chinese type, it would.

Sadly, it is not so.

There are many Arundhuti Roys and others roaming free to abuse the freedom of speech unlike in China where Liu and their like are arrested and re-educated.

we should give them a strong message

but first we have to increase our numbers govt should make all the things in goodway

Rather, Its a typical case of half baked cookies.

A foolish fascist want to bully one and all to be tamed and get spanked.

india must reciprocate to chinese naval ships ,when they visit to pakistan's ports & bangladeshi ports as port call

There was no need forthe IN to do so mthe Airavaat wasn't operating as part of any battle group it was merely on a port visit to Vietnam like any other ship. It travelled in international waters to a friendly nation, the IN expected no trouble- if they had I have no doubt they wuldhave sent sufficient assists to warn off such unprofessional behaviour. And don't think this can't look after itself it has sufficient defensive weapons on board to make any confrontation an unpleasant one.

LOL buddy, we both know that the Indian government doesn't have the guts to do any of that, or they would have done it already.

Hell, even during the 1962 Sino-Indian war they refused to do either one (Tibet/Taiwan), and even when China was supposedly helping Pakistan with their nuclear weapons programme, they didn't do it either.

They didn't break diplomatic relations with Pakistan either after they accused them of being behind the 2008 Mumbai blasts.

Fast forward to the present... several rounds of stapled visas, PLA soldiers in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, etc etc.

So... in what situation WOULD they actually do it?

So u mean to say india never displayed it guts During the visit by your wen jiabo to India we didnt accept for one china policy that can be equaled to stapled visa provocation with india and u cried to the whole world including india to not to attend the honouring ceremeony to well-known dissident Liu Xiaobo but we ignored it and regarding the 1962 war yes we lost it but if u want to try that again y cant u come and take arunachal which u are claiming to be urs so simply taking is of no use

It seems western medias nowadays are really enjoying fabricating news about China and India to stir up the heat between them. It's also a funny thing to read and watch a few naiive and brainless posters from both countries mad as hell, fight and threaten each other over here. What a world! Stupidness at its best.
