China about to replace US as strongest naval power and Washington is too late to stop it

War Robot, the automated decisional killingmachine, will change all traditional comparison matrices. Which country have better A.I and Cyber warfare:wins. The swam locust drones, swam fish drones equips with explosive, chemical, biological agents.Ofcause traditional missiles are also a self deciding killing machines. Immagine swam of Smart mines which can be send to enemy formation faraway with missiles.

It is rather silly to keep on hammering the argument of global versus regional power for the sake of arguing.
Anyone willing to have a neutral standpoint and unbiased opinion and willing to take the time to read those articles written by analysts and US military officials would come to the same conclusion that the US cannot match the number of shipbuilding. The Chinese have a lot of shipyards constructing multiple frigates and destroyers unseen before. You do not see the Japanese or Americans building that kind of number of warships and that's making the US military commanders very nervous which is stated many times on those articles.

if you think US can't match the numbers then you should check out US Navy during the end of Cold War, which had nearly 600 ships, and a whopping 17 aircraft carriers. and that was the time when such combat vessels required huge manpower to run.

US can not prevent china developing its naval asset off course but I really can not see China overtaking US in the foreseable future. Please just google the number of overseas military base US has.

US remains a global power china a rising regional power. In time this may change....but wont happen for atleast several generation.
Like a turf war , you could lose your turf anytime.

US itself can not go back to those days due to its own deindustrialization.

Yes, a country with 700+ billion dollar budget, that has 11 carriers that no one else on the planet can even build will have trouble investing into shipyard infrastructure to increase its size.

Don't underestimate the U.S. industrial base while it's sleeping and collecting dust if it wakes and shakes -- it can go into a mass production state within hours due to private companies and resources available to them -- before WWII US wasn't a giant in a sense of military industrialization but once executive orders were given to turn civilian industry towards military production they were pumping out jets, tanks and ships on an hourly basis and supply itself and friendly forces.

Dude, as if no one else knows they have 11 carriers, you can always say they could increase their infrastructure, but in reality things are not that easy, they have being in the process of deindustrialization for decades, take a look at Detroit and those blue collars who voted for Trump as an example.

With a population of 1.4 billion, > 4 times the size of US, China has bigger manpower. To say US has huge manpower is an overstatement to the Chinese. In peace time the Chinese are already building at this rapid pace, if it's as tense as the Cold War imagine how much faster they can build. US cannot match the speed and the manpower size especially since the US lacks the number of shipyards and other facilities.

It's not size that matters.

It's how you use it.

Even those extremely anti-China hawks from the US did admit they cannot keep in pace with China in an arm race.

Since they had never tried to compete with a fully industrialized country with a population over a billion, that's totally unprecedented.

You have those who says size matters by making reference to the Cold War and how many ships US Navy had. Then you have those who says size does not matter but how to use it? Use what? Some clarification is needed. Is the topic not about how fast a country can build up its navy? What is needed for that purpose? The number of shipyards, the size of manpower and the efficiency of industrialization. Knowing that China has more shipyards, has the biggest population and very industrialized capacity by looking how many destroyers it can manufacture from just one shipyard how can people still say the US can outpace China in shipbuilding?

There is no question that if China wants to build more ships than US, it surely can be done. However, whether that will happen or not depends on future China's global military policy.

US is struggling financially with the available numbers of ships in order to maintain their global military dominance, they need their allies to assist them by sending ships from Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan. US can not do it alone without causing economic hardship in their homeland, as seen in the Gulf wars, Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. They need their NATO allies to pour in money and military assets.

Therefore, unless US economy improves beyond current rates, they will not be willing to add significant number of navy ships, the Pentagon will have to face approvals from the President, the Congress and the Senate.

On the other side, there is no reason for China to assume the role of global police, and with the current non-interference policy, the expansion of China navy is basically aimed at waters surrounding China, the main aims are to deter US attacks on Chinese coasts, to re-unify Taiwan, to protect shipping routes for goods flowing in and out of Chinese ports.

For these aims, there is no need to build more ships than USA but rather to build sufficient numbers to counter what can be mobilised by USA and its allies to deployed ships near Chinese coast lines, and along the shipping routes for Chinese imports and exports.

US doctrine of 1 ship on deployment, 1 ship on standby and I ship in maintenance means that only 2/3 of their ships are available, and they cannot move all their available ships to China's coasts because that will leave vacuum in other parts of the world like Atlantic, Middle East, Indian Ocean, Baltic sea etc.

China does not need to maintain US style of "1 ship deploy, 1 ship on standby and 1 ship under maintenance" because their ships are not send for long endurance global policing patrols. They can easily maintain a "more than 4 ships deployed and I ship under maintenance" as seen on their deployment of all three type 071 LPD during the search of missing MH370 in 2014 (the 4th type 071 was commissioned in 2016).

In short, China is unlikely to build more ships than USA, unless a war break out or a war with USA is unavoidable. But they do have the industrial power that match if not more superior to US ship building industry.

Quite understandably that some Americans are irked by this and would deny in every possible way. I too believe the Chinese are marching at a pace unmatched in the naval history. Most analysts seem to agree on the point that the Chinese are the dominant power in the Asian region.
You are like a 10y kid.
You forget any attack on the US by China will draw all 28 Nato states into the war. Pls do the forum a favor, count all ships of 29 countries and say the number here! Pls don‘t forget the ships of other US alliance partners from Japan, Korea to Australia!

People can imagine how many ships all of those industrialized nations can build in a year. Ok certainly you chinese can build too. Have fun.
