Foreign sim cards, fake IDs from Bangla
11/30/2008 3:03:54 PM

In the fresh leads from the Mumbai terror attack investigation, Intelligence sources say they intercepted conversation between Muzammil, Muzaffarabad chief of LeT operations, and a certain Yahya in Bangladesh.

Yahya arranged sim cards, fake id-cards primarily from western countries like Mauritius, UK, US, Australia. A Mauritian identity card was found on one of the terrorists shot down.

The satellite phone found on the MV Kuber also has shown that calls were made to Jalalabad. These calls were traced to Zakir Ur Rehman, a Chief of training of the LeT.

Intelligence sources have also revealed that in the second week of July, intelligence officials knew about 25 terrorists training in the Pakistan village of Durbari Mitho, and that an ISI agent was also involved in the training.

LeT members learnt Hindi before Mumbai attacks
Press Trust of India
Sunday, November 30, 2008 7:24 PM (Mumbai)

Lashker-e-Taiba, which carried out the most audacious terror strikes in Mumbai, has for the first time used Hindi words while conveying their threat message through media houses.

Interestingly, the mail, sent in the name of Deccan Mujahideen, was generated from an email account created in Russia but was used by a computer based in Pakistan
, officers investigating the pieces of the November 26 attack said.

The author of the mail had used voice recognition software to dictate the mail which would in turn type it in Devnagri font.
Officials handling counter-insurgency operations in the country said that militants had not only for the first time used Hindi language but also made the mail jump from one server to another in order to hide the identity of the master server.

Computer experts say that the e-mail, claiming responsibility for Wednesday's terror attacks, was first generated on a computer located in Pakistan.

Analysing the Internet protocol addresses used to send the mail, the experts found that the Russia-based e-mail address used to send the document was opened early on November 26 was opened by a computer user in Pakistan.

Deshmukh likely to be removed as CM
NDTV Correspondent
Monday, December 01, 2008 12:23 AM (Mumbai)

After Shivraj Patil, it may be Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's turn next. Deshmukh, in the line of fire in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks, is likely to be removed over the next few days.

Sources said no decision had been taken yet on who would replace him, but his exit was likely in the next couple of days.

Sunday was an action-packed day. It began with the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil resigning and ended with the likelihood of the Maharashtra Chief Minister being replaced. In the middle, there was speculation over the National Security Adviser M K Narayanan having quit, but the PMO was quick to refute that.

Both Patil and Deshmukh came under attack at Saturday's Congress Working Committee meeting and leaders suggested that someone must own responsibility. Deshmukh, however, seemed rather unconcerned on Sunday, when he made his first visit inside a devastated Taj hotel.

He had for company film director Ram Gopal Verma and his son Ritiesh, the film actor. Later, the same group visited the Trident as well.

The Chief Minister was clearly unconcerned about insensitivities or about the impending questions of his survival.

However, sources in Delhi had already said that it was this kind of casual approach, which would see the clock ticking for both Deshmukh and his Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who did his own bit to trivialise the tragedy with this casual remark.

Major Unnikrishnan's father refuses to meet Kerala CM

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/M...ow/3777042.cms

BANGALORE: Faced with criticism for delay in showing respect to slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Kerala chief minister V S
Achuthanandan on Sunday called on the soldier's family members here, but a depressed father of Sandeep declined to accept his condolences.

The opposition parties in Kerala have accused the state government of having shown disrespect to the Kerala-born soldier
, who lost his life while combating terrorists in Mumbai, by not sending any minister to his funeral, attended by a large number of people, including Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, here on Saturday.

Achutanandan accompanied by Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan rushed to the city on Sunday evening.

As Sandeep's father Unnikrishnan remained firm that no politician should enter his house and refused to meet the dignatories from his own state, police persuaded Dhanalakshmi, mother of the slain commando, to talk to the guests.

Amid continued protests from Unnikrishnan, Balakrishnan gave words of comfort to Dhanalakshmi and Achuthanandan followed him.

Sources close to Unnikrishnan said he even went to the extent of issuing a threat that he would commit suicide if any politician entered his house.

He had told his friends that his son, whose valour was witnessed by the entire country, did not belong to Kerala alone but to the entire nation.

Unnikrishnan refused to allow police sniffer dogs into the house when security personnel came there ahead of the Kerala Chief Minister's visit to perform their duties.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Achuthanandan in Thiruvananthapuram said the political secretary of the chief minister had attended the funeral.

About time that someone reminded the dirty politicians that attention grabbing is not everything .

About time that someone reminded the dirty politicians that attention grabbing is not everything .

I support him completely.

There is no reason why that politician should use the occasion to get his face on TV and some free publicity.

Unnikrishnan's father even didt attend the call of defence min A.K Antony. Such is the hate towards the politicians by the general public. I think every Indians hate politics now. Its better we should return back the power to our Kings who ruled us better than this cowards...

Bush sending Rice to India in aftermath of attacks

WASHINGTON (AP) — President George W. Bush is sending Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to India in the wake of the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 200 people, including six Americans.

White House press secretary Dana Perino says that Rice is scheduled to leave Sunday night for London for a NATO meeting and then will travel to New Delhi on Wednesday.

Perino says that Rice's visit to India is, in her words, "a further demonstration of the United States' commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of India."

Earlier Sunday, Bush assured India's leader that the U.S. government will put its full weight behind the investigation into the attacks in Mumbai.

Any thoughts on the orange cord, resembling the Kalava, the terrorist was wearing?

Any thoughts on the orange cord, resembling the Kalava, the terrorist was wearing?

That has been mentioned a lot in the Pakistani media, and a lot of forums as well. A number of theories involving BJP-supported terrorists are floating around as a result of it.

Nothing has been said by the police regarding this however. The terrorist who was wearing this "thread" happens to be the one who was caught alive.

He's being interrogated and has identified himself as a Pakistani national, according to the police.

According to me, the thing is too thick and too prominent to be a kalava, which is usually quite thin and would be hard to spot in such low-resolution pictures.

This band is atleast an inch wide.

Some Kalavas can be wider than others. You just get a longer one that you wrap round more times.

It does at least pass a resemblance to a Kalava, which is why a lot of people are discussing it. If it is one, the chances of him being a Hindu would suddenly increase quite dramatically I would have thought.

Here is what the interrogation revealed however:

Terrorists used vermillion, religious thread

MUMBAI: Hindu religious thread on militants' wrist?

Terrorists, who carried out the most audacious attack, tied the threads and applied vermillion on their foreheads to pass off as locals in case they were intercepted by Indian naval forces.

After murdering four fishermen onboard a trawler in the Arabian sea, the militants saw that the boat had several things including a "mauli" (religious thread used in Hindu religion), official sources said.

An arrested militant Ajmal Amin told the interrogators that when their hijacked fishing boat was approaching the Indian shores, they saw some Navy men.

Immediately, they tied the threads and some of them even put on vermilion to look like Hindus, the sources quoting the arrested militant said.

However, the militants managed to docked at Sasoon in Cuff Parade from where they reached Gateway of India to carry out the attacks and were not intercepted by the naval forces.

The fishermen, while going out fishing in high seas, usually carry things to perform prayers.
