He WAS a good actor,infact he was considered one of the finest (once upon a time). He deserves some respect for it, albeit politics is not his cup of tea.

In reality there is no chance for Kamal Hasan to come into politics, He has stated that time and again and he has always raised his voice, when he feels the ruling govt is not doing it job properly.

Note: He is an Atheist (He dosent believe in god) and this common in Tamilnadu, we can see many followers of Periyar (Who was a social activist against ignorance, superstitions and exploitations in the name of God) here in south India.
