Can Pakistan develop like India?

If this thread was opened by pakistani poster with considerable rep(as you included INDIA of all countries) in this Forum ,it would have brought a significantly better discussion from the people who know the ground situation better than people from outside. Also this psychologically makes them feeling caged and less likely to participate in a logical debate.

However i feel these are some things which may help them develop better(Outsiders perspective).


Accountability
I think that pakistani have to choose what they actually want in terms of governance . Some of them prefer democracy ,others prefer the army rule them(Currently in this forum many are inclined towards the army IMO).
Currently the situation of governance seems to be some sort of hybrid of Civil/Military .This is bad because any failures of the government can be attributed to interference ,Politicians saying due to army we could not do some things ,The army saying it is due to this corrupt politicians we failed.

Lets take the example of the current operation of against terrorists. The current narrative is Pak Army is winnning but still there are suicide bombings occuring frequently , So who is accountable in this case ? Is it the civilian government or Pak army ? Can the COAS be made to resign or be held accountable for this ? if so by whom ? There are people who will take the side of the army and some the civilian government.

Transparency:
The army expenses in pakistan are never made public(specific details) ,It is usually a blank cheque .I do not say pakistan should not be spending so much money on defence/security But if it is transparent to the public it will helping further analysis of the problems faced by the army . The civilian government has the budget to show how much is being spent and on what ? But not the army.

Reg Religion:
Either they can separate religion from state policies or reinforce the religion with a positive narrative

Just a simple fact many pakistan's don't know that one state in india Gujarat produce more electricity than whole pakistan

Forget Maharastra,gujarat,tamil nadu etc even karnataka state export figure is more than whole Pakistan.

Another simple fact you indians do know:

Over 550 million indians don't even have an electric connection.


The electricity produced by gujrat,tamil Nadu etc can also be used to give relief to your northern cities where load sheddin exists!

On what basis it can become faster and better, your country do not have MNC to become one of the prosperous country.Neither have good medical or educational infrastructures to be prosperous.

What does Pakistan do with all that aid money they get from the USA? Last I heard it was in the billions of dollars, yet they hate the USA.

Lot of the aid is compensation for services provided by Pakistani forces for WoT. Some of it is used for military budget. Civilian aid is for health care, basic education, higher education, energy etc.

From my little understanding of the Aid money in question, it is not a lot.

As far as your original question, Pakistan has tremendous growth potential due to lower population density, strategic location, etc. It also has a strong middle class, and moderate progressive civilian mindset. If it can get it's internal and external threat issues resolved, the growth model will be different from India, but will be a fast emerging market.

Do you know that India is the 3rd largest producer of electricity in the world with 2,71,722 MW ?

Do you know that from just Feb,2015 to March,2015 India added more than 6500 MW?

Do know that Soft bank and partners will invest 20 billion dollar in india on Solar power sector alone to target 1,00,000 MW in 2022 ?

In northeren States loadshedding not exist due to lack of electricity but lack of funds thats why state electricity boards are not able to buy from national grid.
Technicaly India is a electricity surplus nation ( not practically due to we have still many people who does not have electricity connection but we can cover it with our power wastage in transmission & grid)
India's 8 states let down rest of India but these states are like your Sindh (They don't like development )

Gawader port has much more potential than Mudra port cuz its located on the mouth of strait of Hormuz.It can be the centre of oil trade between the east and west.

Mundra port has a capacity to handle 338 MMT and handled 112.8 million MT of cargo in the financial year 2013–14.Many times larger than your karachi port.
